What makes Great Woods more special to me is the simple the culture of the environment. Buffett's music embobies Nantucket and the Vineyard. Block Island to Newport . . . Portland Maine to Bar Harbor and the tiny New Hampshire coast. It is special here. The Great Woods lot has a tradition of attracting tens of thousands of people with actuall ties to the ocean and its lifestyle. This might sound strange to people in great places like Wisconsin or Indy or Cinci but it is true. And if my opinion does not matter than Jimmy's opinion should. Jimmy has vacationed in Massachusetts and Maine since the late 70's. He knows the area and he knows the people. This comes out in the parking lot twice a year at Great Woods with almost effortless normalcy. It is not the venue or the physical parking lot but the lat and long of the area. No disrespect to the Jones Beach folk but the sailing boating culture doesn't even exist there in comparison although the venue is beautiful. I know tons of people who actually sail who actually live the life Jimmy preaches who come from boating areas from Nantucket past Bar Harbor who never miss a show. There in lies the difference.

But the bottom line is simple . . . all venues are tons of fun. It is who you prefer to party with, I suppose. Parrot Head's in general are fine with me.

to be honest i havent been to every venue.i hit up all the ny,ct, and boston shows. to me and to my family who go, great woods is the best in this region.and although people will argue jones beach is more in line with the buffett experience i have personally always had a better time at great woods.both sonically and for the overall buffett experience! and i have to agree it always appears that jimmy likes playing great woods more than any other venue in the tri-state area.and thank god for that!!

Nobody here thinks that. I know I don't. I have served in the military with people from all over the country for many years and, I got to be honest, there are the few and far between folk like yourself who makes ridicluous statements like that.

I agree with DrunkPirate...I remember living in the Northeast and going to shows and dreaming of the life Jimmy sings about. It was always very fun.

But, I have to say, there is NOTHING like flying into Florida from the North to see an outdoor show amongst all the palm trees and royal blue skies!

Now that I live in Florida and it is tropical all the time, I don't get the same feeling that I did about the shows here. My friends that fly in, however, LOVE it so much!!! It gets them through the winter.

That may or may not be true. I think he loves playing all the venues he hits annually. The difference, and the reason he makes it a point to call "Great Woods the best parking lot on the tour (and Gillette a close second)" every year twice a year is he actually sticks around here for a good chunk of time every year . . . (I know when this year due to my geographical work place but I can't say or the moderators will yell at me ) and parties at the bars (not so much anymore) and sails the Vineyard regattas towards the Nantucket waters near Madeket. These people who live for such activity or to just be out there are definitive of many of those drinking at 10AM at Great Woods. God, I love it! And then there are all those Boston College Girls, but I digress.
