I see some glaring omissions. In science fiction I don't know how "Close Encounters" was left out when "Terminator 2" made the list. I'd have less problem with "Terminator." Also, "Aliens" is a better film than several on this list. "The Matrix" should have made the cut, too.
In fantasy "Harry Potter" and "The Sixth Sense" were overlooked.
In westerns "Josey Wales" would have been near the top of my list. "The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly" revolutionized the genre from silly white hat/black hat cliches. No "Dances with Wolves"? "Cat Ballou" is a classic comedy set in the West, not a western. If its on the list, how is "Blazing Saddles" not on it? Val Kilmer's performance alone would have placed "Tombstone" somewhere on my list. I also would have had "Butch Cassidy" higher.
In gangster "Heat" and "Casino" would have made my top ten.
In mystery "Witness" didn't make the cut.
In epic "The Right Stuff" can not be left out. Tragic enough that it was overlooked at the box office. "Gandhi" is another glaring omission.
What's your biggest beef? What's your Top Ten???
