You would think that if you have a bridge that is over 100 years old, you would check it more often and more thorough.

If you want an experience, go to a Jimmy Buffett concert.
Experience is something you don't get until just after you need it.
Life is short, live long!!
I'd rather be a wiseass than a dumbass.

Just wait until they hit you with "emergency" fare increases to pay for the repairs. The port authority down here used their surplus to build stadiums, concert halls and a number of other non-transportation type things. Now they are broke and need to raise bridge tolls to pay for repairs.
Rub yours on me and I'll rub mine on you

That's already in the works anyway. The "Big Dig" was supposed to be 90 % paid for by the federal government when it was sold to the people up here, however, that was ruled invalid and the Federal government is paying only for about a quarter of the price. This has made the cost of the Big Dig go from $14 billion (yes that's with a "B") to $22 billion because of the interest payments the Massachusetts Turnpike Authority has to now pay. This is making them tip into insolvency. The state may have to issue bonds to pay for it and thus skip out on other much needed repairs.Skibo wrote:Just wait until they hit you with "emergency" fare increases to pay for the repairs.
