This column gave me a chuckle, thought some of you might enjoy it, too. Pretty much sums up my feelings on Bowl Games....'cept for the Grandaddy of Them All, of course.

Cooked up some pulled pork and made my own bbq sauce. Now to put beer on ice and be ready for the festivities of the Holiday Bowl tomorrow. Must remember my slide rule to keep up with the scoring

The Pitt/Oregon State Sun Bowl had to be about as boring a bowl game as I've ever seen, at least they set a record for the most punts ever in the Sun Bowl

IOWA HAWKEYES 31
SOUTH CAROLINA GAMECOCKS 10

But I was NOT comfortable at all with the lead until Iowa took over on downs with 45 seconds left.
Too many times too many teams have found too many ways to come back and beat you when they were supposedly "out of it."

Anyway, a great game by both teams, and two of the best and classiest coaches in the N.C.A.A.
Now let's see what Kirk Ferentz's next move will be.
can you say "CLEVELAND BROWNS?"

And remember the name "SHONN GREENE."
He'll be a household name within the next two years.

Man.....that was a tough loss. I really thought Clemson had it wrapped up, but Nebraska really came out in the second half and took control. I thought it was a well-played game by both teams. Props to the Huskers--that was a solid win.

I didn't say he was my FAVORITE coach, but I certainly have no reason to dislike the man.
They put up a good fight today, despite the final score. They recovered an on side kick, and, had they scored on that drive (with about three minutes left), things could've gotten VERY intresting.
The win for the Hawkeyes was not assured until they took over on downs with 45 seconds left.
For a team that's been decimated by turnovers, and a few key injuries, the fact that the Gamecocks put up the fight they did says a lot for the team AND the coach. Losing su.cks, I know, but the Gamecocks had nothing to be ashamed of today.
Disappointment, yes.
Shame, no way.

Thanks.
It was also nice to see the Iowa cheerleaders showing some SKIN today. The last few times I'd seen them, they were each wearing about 18 pounds of clothes. :x Gotta love that tropical weather.
And yes, we do have some HOTTIE cheerleaders.
They've GOT to be from the south somewhere-we're not known for hot weather OR hot women here.

we watched part of the game...he's hell on visors. and headsets, kicking gatorade on the sideline, and just about anything else that gets in his way when he's acting out.

...UGA played a very good game today, finally got things to click for them. Next season looks promising.

one down and one to go!

Nice to see Penn State get blown off the field by a quality opponent once again........ :o

I live in the heart of "Penn State Country" and have to put up with a lot of rather obnoxious PSU fans everyday at work and elsewhere. This season once again exposes PS for playing a weak non-conference schedule, a weak conference schedule (let's see the Big 10 won, what, one bowl so far????? Hats off to Iowa at least....), and is now stuck with a grumpy 82-year old coach for another 3 years....... [smilie=grrrrrr.gif] Penn State Football and Joe Paterno are a mere shell of the former glory days.

Maybe if they consider a switch to Division II for future seasons.......

After watching Southern Cal you wonder how they lost to Oregon State? (My PS friends will remind me that PSU beat Oregon State this year, to which I say.....so what?).
On most days I say: "Wrinkles only go where the smiles have been...."
Sometimes I can only say: "There is no dumbass vaccine......"

If something or someone gets you down, just remember: "In a hundred years it all won’t matter.........."

I can't believe how often Clemson produces the agony of defeat from the thrill of victory time & time again! Game was there for the taking. Cullen Harper...can you say "Throw the ball away" or "You Can't Take That Sack"!!! And if they'd figure out a way to get the ball to Spiller once in awhile........

I'm pretty sure he HAD to be talking about somebody else!! Classy is NOT the word I would use to define Spurrier! Congrats to IOWA!!!
