Yes they did 8)

With the exception of Bosie, the West did pretty darn well against the Rest of the US.

Alabama could have used suspended All-America left tackle Andre Smith, but even he might not have been enough to stop a Utah defense that played with speed, ferocity and discipline. There's an understatement of facts.

The Utes’ front seven was significantly outweighed by Alabama’s offensive line, but refused to give ground to the Tide’s normally powerful running game that averaged 196.5 yards per game coming into the Sugar Bowl. Glen Coffee was held to 36 yards on 13 carries, while Mark Ingram rushed eight times for only 26 yards.

And now for some bitter SEC comments:

“They jumped ahead of us early in the game. I don’t think we gave them their due respect coming into the game,” Coffee said. “That’s something we never should have allowed to happen.”

Coffee.... you didn't "allow," s***! You got your ass kicked from the first quarter and you were held to 36 yards rushing. Go cry over your cream and sugar effort back home.

Man.....that was a tough loss. I really thought Clemson had it wrapped up, but Nebraska really came out in the second half and took control. I thought it was a well-played game by both teams. Props to the Huskers--that was a solid win.
I can't believe how often Clemson produces the agony of defeat from the thrill of victory time & time again! Game was there for the taking. Cullen Harper...can you say "Throw the ball away" or "You Can't Take That Sack"!!! And if they'd figure out a way to get the ball to Spiller once in awhile........
There are a lot of Tiger fans who are happy this is Harper's last season. He never quite lived up to expectations. And I don't know what he was thinking on that last sack. I was screaming at the TV--THROW IT AWAY!!!!! And I am surprised Spiller didn't get more touches. I hope he comes back next season.

I live in the heart of "Penn State Country" and have to put up with a lot of rather obnoxious PSU fans everyday at work and elsewhere. This season once again exposes PS for playing a weak non-conference schedule, a weak conference schedule (let's see the Big 10 won, what, one bowl so far????? Hats off to Iowa at least....), and is now stuck with a grumpy 82-year old coach for another 3 years....... [smilie=grrrrrr.gif] Penn State Football and Joe Paterno are a mere shell of the former glory days.

Maybe if they consider a switch to Division II for future seasons.......

After watching Southern Cal you wonder how they lost to Oregon State? (My PS friends will remind me that PSU beat Oregon State this year, to which I say.....so what?).
May I point out that in their bowl game, Notre Dame scored more than
Penn State and Pitt combined? :pirate:

True. The lone bright spot this year. Okay, Iowa can play in a bowl next year.

well, it was closer than expected. But, maybe this will be grounds for OSU getting invited to a second-tier bowl next year because it appears that Tressel coaching his own recruits can't get it done in the post season.

As long as they finish in the top 2 of the Big 10, they are almost a shoo-in for the BCS.

IF they have a good season.
If Kirk Ferentz is still their coach, they probably WILL have a good season, but, if the rumors hold true, and he takes one of the vacant N.F.L. coaching jobs, I'll be pretty skeptical as to the success of the Hawks in 2009.

Looks like the Big 10 "took off" this season........ :o

Just curious, how did a game like the GMAC Bowl last night get such a great primetime spot?????? Nothing against Tulsa or Ball State by any means, but usually games this late in the season have better-known programs playing.....
