I'll be honest... How can an "undefeated" team NOT be able to be declared the "National Champion" just because they happened to play in a bowl game that was NOT the National Championship game?
This is why I HATE the BCS

That's not why I hate the BCS. The lack of a playoff is.
I think the thing that hurts Utah is a weak schedule. But from what I understand, some of the teams were pretty good when they scheduled them.
Nevertheless, I'm hopeful that one day we'll see a playoff.
Seems like every year someone gets shafted bu the BSC.

first off, the BCS is partially made up of the Coaches voting. The thought process OF THE VOTERS is that if Utah was in one of the "major" conferences they would NOT have went undefeated.
But..........we'll never know that.....will we?
Secondly........The AP voters can crown anyone they choose National Champion. I'm predicting Utah, USC & the Gators/Sooners winner will all get votes!

If Buffalo or Ball State went undefeated, should they be declared National Champs? Who you defeat has a lot to do with it.

Half of the games on UTAH's schedule was with teams that participated in a Bowl game this year, including 2 teams that will finish in the final top 10. Their conference was tougher than the Big (L)East (which gets an automatic BSC bid) yet the "experts" pre-determine the results. The media, which steers the mothership, is in a everyone vs the SEC mentality. So thats what we get. The same bias was what kept USC from moving up the ratings. Turns out the Pac 10 (undefested in bowl games) wasn't all that bad afterall.

Great game!
The look on "Big Game" Bob's face after the last Tebow td pass was priceless.
The "fourth best qb in the Big 12" brought it tonight as well as Harvin and the Gator defense.
Conga-rats Gators!

Ironically some of the Pac 10 teams that didn't make it to a bowl game really really really su<ked this year - ie Cougars and Huskies

The 3rd straight "national title" for the SEC.......depending upon whose rankings you use!

but aren't the odds of the Cougars being barely-better than the Vandals better than even money?

I Like Tim Tebow.....but IMHO the Gator "D" & Percy Harvin won that game last night for them!!
Sooners lost that game in the first half by throwing away points inside the 10 yard line twice!

Could you imagine a 4-team tournament between Utah, Florida, USC, and Texas? Actually, could imagine an 8-team tournament if you add in the teams they beat? And the schools and networks wouldn't be rolling in even more dough????
Just sayin.

64 teams = 6 more weeks of college football.
What do you mean, "when do they have time to attend classes?"
