Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Pinot Noir in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and screaming "WOO HOO"

Aaah telecom Union strikes

Brings back the good memories of being a management employee at BellSouth. Every time the contract was us for re-negotiation, they'd cancel our vacations and put us on alert to have to work in the field (as Bob is doing/soon to be doing).

The contract would always be signed at the last minute and much like Y2K, it was back to business as usual.

Nope. Depending on the outcome of the potential strike (Verizon and the unions have "stopped the clock", meaning they are still negotiating and a union walkout is still possible at any time), we are planning a family vacation at Sandbridge Beach (Virginia Beach's outer banks) starting Saturday, August 9th.

If there is still no contract Saturday, the family and I will take have to take 2 vehicles to Sandbridge and start our vacation. If the union walks, I'll have to drive back and start my work stoppage assignment somewhere while the family continues our vacation without me. Hopefully I can get in a few surf sessions before that would occur.
