From wikipedia, so take it with a grain of salt....

Opus One Winery is a winery in Oakville, California, USA. The winery was founded as a joint venture between Baron Philippe de Rothschild of Château Mouton Rothschild and Robert Mondavi to create a single Bordeaux style blend based upon Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. It is located across State Route 29 from the Robert Mondavi Winery. The creation of this winery venture in 1978 was big news in the wine industry; de Rothschild's involvement added an air of respectability to the burgeoning Napa wine region.

Some one sitting next to me calls it "overpriced Mondavi."  but I've seen what she drinks   . To me it's as much about living in Key West with my friends Brett and Steph and enjoying a bottle of it while having dinner at the Grand on Duval street and watching the world go by. It's pricey, but it's good. (edit: I'll bring you a bottle to Great Woods. )
See, you learn something every day on this board!

I never heard of Opus One. MUST GET A BOTTLE!!!!!! 8)
$35 charge to tour the vinyard, plan on well over $100 for a bottle of their wine (or the price of a Buffett concert ticket!)

Isn't that the truth, further more who cares, at least not me! I look forward to the concert season every year as it provides a much needed escape even if it is only for 1 day or a few depending upon the location. What will happen to those gatherings when he does call it quits. I for one will be devestated at the fact that I don't have those 3 or 4 days to look forward to where I can behave like as A$$ and get way with it..sell out or not...I love the now! :D

(YAWN)

Jimmy jumped the shark when Brown Eyed Girl, Southern Cross and It's Five O'Clock Somewhere (and some others here and there) became staples instead of HIS OWN MATERIAL.

That is what is called a downhill slide in quality. THAT is what has happened. Oh woo woo woo the fans love BEG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The fans - I'm sorry - Parrotheads have also jumped the shark in those regards.

Do you expect Jimmy to change the set list at every show on the same tour? For those of us to only get to a show once a year at best I think it is still the best money spent for entertainment. Don't like it, don't go and that way I won't have to worry about your drunk ass puking on my shoes.
You'll still have to worry about the guy who $hat himself in Chicago and still walked into the venue being the joker who you get the privilege of paying $150 to sit next to.

You'll still have to worry about getting warm beer spilled all over you or your wife by some moron who, upon hearing Brown Eyed Girl, is seized by fits of rapture which results in beer being splashed everywhere for a ten foot circumference.

You'll still have to worry aboutthe drunk frat boy who tries to aisle hop by trying to straddle and walk across the folding chairs in front of him only to end up stepping on the people sitting in those chairs (that was another highlight of Chicago) who then wants to get in a fight because you object to him almost knocking your wife over. If security was not standing next to us, I would have been drawn into a fight by that ahole.

You'll still have to worry about getting knocked down by the drunks who fight in the aisle in front and behind you.

You'll still have to worry about idiot drunks ruining the view you payed $150 for when they have to stand on their seats the entire show.

Yeah - I am done. You can enjoy pretending that hanging out in a parking lot is some sort of "escape". I know it is not.
How was any of that Jimmy's fault?

And good for you for choosing to be done, but you have no right to imply that people who enjoy the parking lot festivities are pretending to escape. Different strokes for different folks, ya know? If they enjoy it, they enjoy it... who are you to judge?

I agree!! I think that happened when all the ticket prices started getting too high. By ticket prices I mean concerts, movies and sporting events.

It should not cost a family of four close to $300 to watch a baseball game.

Well, it's Jimmy's "fault" that he has sold out to the drunken Kenny Chesney 18-22 year old demographic who are there to puke their way through teh night. It's Jimmy's "fault" that he charges $150 for the same old set list year after year after year after year after year.

It's Jimmy's fault that, to quote somebody else he has beome more of a karaoke machine who sings the same set with decreasing inspiration.

Heck - even on Trying to Reason With the Hurricane Season, the last song in Chicago, he looked bored and like he couldn't wait to get out of there.

In my opinion, it is Jimmy's fault that he is just mailing in his performances and doesn't care because he knows that the drunks just don't care.

I know I posted a long winded answer before, but I was just rereading the title of this thread and I felt the need to address one more issue.

The real question is not has Jimmy jumped the shark. The real question is this:

Who's coming over to do my laundry for me?
Take me for what I am, a star newly emerging.

I guess, it really is "my own damn fault".

Jimmy is on his way becoming a billionaire catering to people who largely want to give him their money to shake their asses to BEG, CIP, and buy his tequila, beer (which I actually like), rum (which assuredly will be swill), and Margaritaville junk.

I just don't find it fun anymore. He is no longer a hero to me.

Big flippin deal, I know. Another whiny "purist" fan checks out - another college kid can get a seat to join the party. That's fine. The party just ain't fun no more for me and so it goes.
