Brett Farve playing for the Bucs?????

Post by Capt.Flock »

Brett Favre will likely be a Buccaneer within the next 24 hours, according to the Tampa Tribune.
Just like that. The Trib calls the chances of a trade not happening "remote" after Favre gave the Bucs approval to deal for him. If the report is true, Favre will be playing against his former team in Week 4, in an away game for the Packers. The trade could reportedly be announced as soon as Wednesday.

The way the Pack has acted throughout this process, I say "Go Bret!!!". Trying to pay him off not to come back, planting stories in the media....not what I expect from such a respectable organization as GB. They, more than anyone should have known it was never about the money, but rather just wanting to play the game.

I can see him playing a couple of years in Tampa, anf the team will be much better with him as their leader.

I guess I have to say there is more than enough blame to go around on this one.

the last several years, Farve has done the "will I be back, won't I be back" thing. Last year he had a good year, which made up for the three previous years. that's batting .250, which ain't Hall of Fame #s. This year, he decides, "I am done". Whether you believe that he rushed the decision or not, I can't believe someone held a gun to his head and said, "bye-bye. either your sig, or your brains are on the retirement forms".

Then about the time things start gearing up... the rumbling starts, and it isn't even Farve doing the rumbling, it's his mommy and his brother and about a dozen other whiners saying, "he was treated like crap. they don't want him." The Packers meantime have gone thru the post and preseason on the idea that they need to find a QB that is actually going to be there, and time does pass. So they build an offense around the new guy (who, like Scott Hunter, has the unenviable task of replacing a legend and people bitching about the whole retirement thing. And here's a hint, Bart Starr was a hell of a lot better QB than Farve. Rings and trophies.. Farve may have brought them back, but the majority of hardware in that trophy case has Starr's name on it.)

and yes, the spelling was intentional.

Doesn't make sense for the Buc's. Garcia is a dependable QB in their offense. He doesn't make many mistakes and knows the offense. Also with garcia, TB would have been able to play without 5000 reporters and cameras watching every move the team made. Hopefully Garcia will be successful with either the vikings or bears.

Didn't Garcia get hurt??....also my take on the Favre thing is....shouldn't he be able to play the game he loved..And the Packers have the option to keep , Trade or release him..I think they know he has something left or they would of released him.... if i recall he had a pretty good year last year. I have no problem him coming back.

what if Buffett said he was retiring next year....and half way through or the following year...he decides he wants to tour again..because he wants to do the thing he loves....most people here would be celebrating and can't wait to see a show.

Favre to Tampa Bay is all but done...according to "savebrett.net" anyway. They say they hope their source is wrong, but we should expect the info to come out soon. This is probably b.s., but I just like the fact that the source that has this info is "savebrett.net".

If Buffett retired, his band members would move on just like the packers attempted to do. Most of the band would probably be too busy to drop everything and start up with jimmy because he wanted to tour. Of course the fans would be thrilled and pay whatever to see him. Unfortunately he probably wouldn't be able to get half the band together on such short notice. Also he would have a terrible time selling out if he announced his 'return' midway through the season since many concert goers would have already committed their concert budget to other performers.

I really thought they were going to work things out in Green Bay. As a Bear fan, I will say this-he is one of the greatest quarterbacks I ever saw

Un-freaking-believable...

And it may not be too bad. Good offensive line and a good running game. Could be the QB the Jets need cuz they really don't have one.

Brett's Jets.

Won't be long before he's missing Driver, Jennings, Martin, Jones etc.
Won't be long before the Pack misses Brett.
Too bad they couldn't work it out.

NYJets is a perfect fit at this point, it Brett can make them look good, all the Brett haters will be quieted.

it's not like he's going to be a big addition. Minneapolis Star-Tribune summed it up best: who needs another Hershel Walker event..
