YAY!!!

A friend of one of my team (and a close friend) won silver today in the sailing!!! She has been waiting all day to get word!!!

So now just waiting on the aussie womens basketball team to win GOLD! A friend's niece is one of our star players - it freaks me out looking at her as she looks so much like Ana in her facial expressions it aint funny! (susie batkovic is the player).

And whoever it was that posted something about great USA beat Aust in the mens b/ball - well that was a given ...... we cant even keep a competitive mens basketball comp going in Australia - so no way we can beat NBA players

Local gal, Hyleas Fountain, who graduated from Central Dauphin East
High School near Harrisburg, PA, took the bronze medal in the
heptathalon. Now it appears the gal from the Ukraine who took the
silver has flunked a doping test (not her first time) and may have to
give up the silver. This will move Miss Fountain up to the silver and
move a Russian gal up to the bronze. Other athletes were complaining
that the gal from the Ukraine was even competing because she had
been suspended from 2003-2005. So we'll just wait and see what
happens.

US loses Gold in Women's Softball.
First loss for the team since 2001

US loses gold in Womens Water Polo

Women's soccer spoiler...

US/Brazil heading into extra time, still nil-nil. Saw most of the second half, Brazil really seemed to control the ball but the U.S. had a breakaway with a couple minutes to go but missed. I think it's on live.

The rest of this is so people will think something really interesting happened.

NBC has always pushed the envelope with it's sideline reporters. They are borderline obnoxious. Remember Jim Gray? He always had to ask the controversial question. Really bothered me.

women's soccer FINAL

US wins 1-0. Lloyd hit the post on a second attempt later in the extra time. Brazil had several good shots, I thought Marta really controlled the game but just couldn't get the ball in the net. Seemed like the ball was on her feet constantly, but Solo had a couple of good saves and the defense played well when it needed to. One more gold for the girls!

Men and women relay both dropped the baton on the final leg and failed to qualify in a rainy round. Major disappointment!
