I see your dilemma, sp. You can't please everyone, so you've got to please yourself! (and the Critterville Clique!surfpirate wrote:It's a fine line I am tap dancing. On the one hand, I want to include as many BNers and BN storylines as possible, because that's a lot of fun for everyone that is included, but on the other hand I don't want to make BN Critters to appear to be yet another hangout just for the platinum-high-posters and "cool kids" ...... I want this lunch table to be all-inclusive ..... no exclusive cliques, ya know?Afternoon Golfer wrote:Really liked it at the beginning but have lost interest since the story lines have strayed. There are only so many BN topics. You are one heck of a creative guy.
I get feedback both ways .... some want more BN focus and yet some feel they are the outside looking in when I include a joke that may be too "inside" ..... the latter appreciate that the strip began branching out a little.
I hope I can find that balance. This is too much fun. I have a management/technical "real job" 40+ hours a week and this allows a certain amount of creative energy to escape.
To anyone on the fence, I invite you to participate and post here at BuffettNews and also over at www.crittervillecove.com and check out the archives at www.bncritters.com.
THIS IS NOT AN EXCLUSIVE CLUB! We want/need/enjoy new friends!
Thanks!

This is just my opinion, as a reader of your strip. Thinking back, in the beginning, they were random and topical, poking fun at the happenings on BN.

Being a person with a short attention span, those strips packed more punch for me, than developing and continuing story lines. Much easier to read and enjoy at face value to me, than having to keep up / catch up with the series.
I don't subscribe to the platinum high posters, cool kids, exclusive clique mentality that seems to burden so many. It's a big ol' goofy world!
(Please note: I know I'm not normal, and most people don't share my mindset, and if they did they'd never admit it, so take my thoughts with a grain of salt, and a lime, and tequila!

Random and topical was easy at the beginning ..... I had years of previous BN material to tap for the first time (dating a shirt, BN Feud, TicketMaster Headaches, Yellow Stars, Boobies, etc.).
But then I either have to find a way to revisit the same old, same old in new/creative ways ..... or find new material. Putting out 5 strips per week is not as easy as I thought it might be. Developing storylines helps. The idea of 4 of the Critters developing a band similiar to the early innocent days of the Beatles cracked me up, so I went with it. The Blues Brothers theme week was fun. The SNL "cowbell" skit is fun to adapt to the Critters (to me at least).
Or I can develop recurring themes and have Lucy continuing to pull the football away from Charlie Brown over and over and over again.
It's a balance I hope I find.

Ditto! I am grateful for whatever you choose to put out there. If I don't get some of the "in" jokes, it's no big deal. There's still plenty to enjoy about the Critters! I hope you don't get too stressed out worrying about pleasing people - this is supposed to be fun FOR YOU, and we're glad that you share it with us!Tiki Bar wrote:Anything you can / care to do is greatly appreciated!surfpirate wrote:It's a balance I hope I find.
