Your Buffett stuff - when you kick the bucket...

Post by creeky »

Just wondering

I am currently re-doing my will (last will and testiment - not sure if you call it the same - but my estate) for when I keel on over in many years time I hope :P

So I am wanting to add a clause ... none of my family like Buffett music at all ... or my friends .....

So my plan is to put a clause in that it is to be auctioned off (like Ebay) and money to a nominated charity ....

In years to come - do you think anything signed would be of value (I have quite a bit including a "one only ever signed" item that no one in the world will have one of) ???

Have you given thought to this? I dont want mine ending up tossed in the dump - I figure - auctioning means someone who wants it would get it?

While I am at it - anyone want anything?

Now I'm curious...what is that one and only item????

I think it sounds like a fine idea.

And when I'm 80 and see the stuff on e-bay....I'll try to bid!

Actually I have thought of this, don't know why, but I have. I mostly have concert t-shirts and CD's. My plan is to wear out all the t-shirts through normal wear and tear before I go. As for the CD's I guess they'll go to a bargain bin where someone in the future will purchase one for kicks and then realize they need all the rest, thus a new parrot head is born.

Now the weird part. I have told my wife that I want to be buried in a pair of shorts, my favorite concert t-shirt and sandals. On the off chance that we have to wear what we are buried in for all of eternity; I want to be comfortable!

I want to be buried in my Margaritaville hoodie. I want tropical flowers, palm trees and my JB music playing for all to hear. Anyone who knows me will not be surprised.

Won't be my problem. In 40 years -I hope, those items will have little more than sentimental value. I have been to a lot of estate sales and auctions and seen too many "valuable" collections sold for pennies on the dollar. My heirs can do what they want with my possessions, I don't plan on making my death a burden on anyone except the poor saps that have to lower my fat azz into the hole.

You can feel free to add me to your will! [smilie=battingeyes.gif]

I think most Buffett stuff holds sentimental value, more than monetary, even though ebay can prove that some Buffett "collectors" have money to spend!

Me? I'd have it all go to a friend I know would appreciate it.

This begs the question ...... will Jimmy be laid to rest in yellow shorts, a teal t-shirt, matching wristbands and flip flops?

And will Meglaritaville, Inc. then begin selling licensed and logo ladened urns and coffins?

When I'm dead, for all I care, they can stuff me in a trash can for Thursday morning pick up.
As for my stuff, anyone who wants it can have it.

My will states that my entire estate of assets (all $3.95 of it) goes to the one and only Ferguson Farley Frederick L. Fox of Bendover, KS.

Why not? The other marketing machine, Harley-Davidson does!

I don't have that much Buffett stuff......I suppose my daughter would take it....but it's not a big concern of mine.

I told my wife when I go I want to be buried in my Hawiian shirt, khaki shorts, and sandals.

I plan on leaving my Hawiian shirts to my son, along with my Jimmy Buffett stuff and a cocktail shaker I have with my intials engraved on it.

I really do not have anything of value except a picture Jimmy autographed in the mid 90's that says "Happy Birthday Frank" and his signature on it. :D

PLEASE DON'T BURY ME
........... John Prine

Woke up this morning
Put on my slippers
Walked in the kitchen and died
And oh what a feeling!
When my soul
Went thru the ceiling
And on up into heaven I did ride
When I got there they did say
John, it happened this way
You slipped upon the floor
And hit your head
And all the angels say
Just before you passed away
These were the very last words
That you said:

Chorus:
Please don't bury me
Down in that cold cold ground
No, I'd druther have "em" cut me up
And pass me all around
Throw my brain in a hurricane
And the blind can have my eyes
And the deaf can take both of my ears
If they don't mind the size
Give my stomach to Milwaukee
If they run out of beer
Put my socks in a cedar box
Just get "em" out of here
Venus de Milo can have my arms
Look out! I've got your nose
Sell my heart to the junkman
And give my love to Rose

Repeat Chorus

Give my feet to the footloose
Careless, fancy free
Give my knees to the needy
Don't pull that stuff on me
Hand me down my walking cane
It's a sin to tell a lie
Send my mouth way down south
And kiss my ass goodbye

Repeat Chorus

That song inspired my plans for my remains.

I intend to be cremated. Then the ashes placed
in many small vials. At my wake my friends will
be asked to take a vial with them and the next time
they are in a place that is special to them, scatter the
vial of ashes there.

That way whenever they are visiting their special
place I will be with them.

Note: No more then two vials can be spread in any one bar.
