Well he does make a good point. In most cases, the 'victim' would be committing a crime if the money was actually transferred.

Right and in most of the scams.. the "victim" would profit
IF all went well..

I work in a bank and I can't believe how stupid some people really are. Not only when it comes to these big scams, but just in everyday life.

A young guy was in the other day and his service charges were $48 and he was blaming the bank. I was the one that brought it to his attention. He had a saving account and that only allows 2 free debits a month but was using it like a checking (Americanized for ya) account. When I suggested he go into an office with a sales person to change it, he said I don't have time.......maybe someday. People want to take no responsibility for themselves these days.

I hear you there Caly!

My mom had a customer who had her CC compromised. She was just sure someone was using a scanner to get it from a cell phone call- that she made on her way into a very large stadium. Somehow, I don't think that's what really happened.

Yup...PT Barnum was definitely right. The scammers are total scum. But if there weren't people greedy enough to defy common sense, all the scammers would starve. Or have to get honest work.

It's always the victim's fault. The old lady that got mugged? Her fault for not being strong enough to combat her attackers. The girl that got raped? Why was she wearing that low-cut dress? The guy that got killed by a drunk driver? Well, you accept that risk when you get in a car.

Uh.. Not at all what I am saying..
in these scams you get a contact..
from a princess/prince who needs "help"
getting 10 MILLION or so US dollars out of the country
(the goverrnment is watching and He/She is afraid for their life)
If you give them your Bank info they will cut you in on..
up to 40 percent (here is the greed)
once they are safely out of.. whatever country they have made up..

sorry but these "victims" are looking for something for nothing..

Maybe some, but not all. What about the sweet little lady who just thinks she's helping somebody out? They have a sob story to go along with it as well, just for that purpose.

A crime is a crime. Just because a victim possibly has a "less than moral" vice, doesn't make it right to exploit.

My MIL is one of these people that is a sucker for anyone that knocks on the door. She has donated to the republican party, democratic party, given money for clean water, purchased magazines she doesn't read and even purchased whole life insurance. My wife is constantly trying to clean up some stupid purchase that was made. This is money that she can not afford to spend. I don't blame the scammers or salesmen that call, I blame my MIL she is an idiot. It has been rationally explained to her many times by family members that her social security and pension are barely enough to get her by each month (with the $500 my wife gives her...) She is walking proof that there is no cure for stupid.
