Actually sir, you are a sad testament to the fact that you can't so much as say anything even tangentially negative on this forum about Jimmy without some putz attacking you.
He is not a putz...that is a rude statement.

Jones Beach was awesome!!! :D :D :D :D :D :D Maybe you weren't hanging with the fun crowd!! :D :D :D :D
I wholly agree...calling someone a putz IS a rude statement...and so is the statement that I was responding to..."No one will miss you," which was nasty, mean-spirited and TOTALLY unprovoked.

In short, if you can't take it, don't dish it out.

B.

you give my intention way too much credit. when I go to Great Woods twice a year during for Jimmy (during the years he is there, of course) it literally restores my faith in humanity for a few hours: no exaggeration or lie, there. I hope that by noon a week from now you will lose whatever lack of happiness or whatever it is prompted you to assume that 20,000 people are not excited about a Jimmy Buffett concert that sells out every year, more or less, for close to 50 shows over the years at the same venue where people spend months planning displays and menus and drinks and take time off of work to party with friends, family, strangers, ME, ; to pick people they may not even know up at the train station or the airports in Boston or Providence or offer to share hotel rooms with people for the sole purpose of spending time with a fellow Parrot Head who needs a place to crash. Again - Not Excited? Don't come. Because all the above is true and there are countless stories about friendships made and conversations about Boston Red Sox catchers who belong in the Hall Of Fame and other great moments :pirate: 8) that people remember for a lifetime that back my statement . . . No one will miss you. There is way too much positive energy to even aknowledge a lack of excitment for this. If i meet you then I will shake your hand and do a shot and hope that you are having fun . . . if you are not then 19,999 + will make up for it.

Likewise, I used to think that most Parrotheads were decent, kind, generally gracious folk...but I guess there's always one in a crowd to contradict that sentiment.

It appears that most everything I have said has been bent out of shape.

My wife and I both have been totally psyched about going to Great Woods every year JB has played it, and have had a smashing time each and every year.

Our non-attendance this year has NOTHING WHATSOEVER to do about not being excited, and EVERYTHING to do with responsibility and family finances.

Moneys tight, so Buffett has to go.

I can understand the lack of interest for a Thursday show, but Saturday ???????. There are plenty of tickets on various websites for face and even the Buffettnews ticket exchange. In past years, if there was a show on Saturday, it was nearly impossible to find tickets at face.

I don't know if it is because

1) It is the week after labor day
2) The economy is hurting and a $150 ticket for an uncovered Pavilion is crazy
3) The concern of the crackdown on drinking in the parking lot this year at the Comcast Center

Any thought or its just me....
At one time Bubba played 4-6 shows at GW.

I think that you are a scalper trying to create a demand because you hoarded and bought too many tickets.

Keep in mind that Bubba always played Labour day weekend at GW until the Deutche Bank PGA came to town. That is why the show has been pushed to the weekend after Labour Day.

Actually the first year of the golf tourney (2003) Jimmy played Great Woods, from what I heard quite a few of the aerial shots were of the Great Woods parking lot and the announcers kept mentioning the tailgaing and th show. The golf parking was done at Foxboro that year and they used shuttle busses. According to to rumor, Great Woods told Jimmy that they would like him to sign a long term deal that would lock him into Labor Day weekend. Jimmy declined and they signed a parking deal with TPC Boston.

First of all, I have never purchased more than two tickets for any JB show in my life, and secondly, the two tickets that I purchased to Saturday's show at Great Woods, I just sold to a buddy of mine (Jim Vail) for face value!

What the hell is it about this forum that makes people go hunting to ulterior motives?! My initial response message was EXACTLY and wholly an effort to address the title of this thread ("Where has the excitement of the Great Woods show gone ??"), and NOTHING MORE.

As a result, I have been told by one member "that no one will miss me" at the concert, and another has accused me of scalping.

The truth is that a whole group of folk are sorry we are not coming, and secondly, the two tickets that my wife and I had, I sold to one of the members of that group for face value.

For gawds sake folks, what it is about your lives that make you some damn suspicious and nasty?
