Where has the excitement of the Great Woods show gone ???

For years I have been attending the Buffett concerts at the Tweeter Center/Great Woods/Comcast Center. This is the first year I can honestly say there is a lack of interest in many people that I know that want to go to the show. I know its a selected few, but there are other signs I see.

I can understand the lack of interest for a Thursday show, but Saturday ???????. There are plenty of tickets on various websites for face and even the Buffettnews ticket exchange. In past years, if there was a show on Saturday, it was nearly impossible to find tickets at face.

I don't know if it is because

1) It is the week after labor day
2) The economy is hurting and a $150 ticket for an uncovered Pavilion is crazy
3) The concern of the crackdown on drinking in the parking lot this year at the Comcast Center

Any thought or its just me....

Me too!

And I've been checking to see if I can upgrade my spot for Saturday and I have to say there are fewer tickets on eBay than I've ever seen before (and there are fewer bids on what's there) fewer tickets on Razorgator and Stubhub and certainly not at face. So I'm not seeing a lot of available tickets at all. Seems like this year supply met demand and people who wanted tickets got them and those who bought extra hoping to make a buck or who have season tickets and want to sell them for an outrageous amount are getting left holding them. Which makes me happy! :)

Having said that the fact that the price of a everything ELSE in life this year has certainly put a crimp in a lot of people's plans.

Damned if we do...damned if we don't!

Many have been criticized in the past on these boards for posting their excitement over the Great Woods experience, so the fact that those of us with tickets aren't shouting from the rooftops only means:

1. We're showing a little restraint out of respect for the more sensitive non-New Englanders,
2. We're counting the "wake ups" quietly to ourselves, despite simmering feelings of irrational exhuberance,
3. We're all putting together our tailgating gear in some corner of the house or garage,
4. We're trying to pass the time by going off and listening to LOTS of our favorite Buffett tunes, and
5. WE'RE FREAKING ECSTATIC THAT IT'S ALMOST TIME!!!

See you there!!

I would guess 70% of my usual crowd is not going this year. Finances, after Labor Day, Younger crowd all seem to be part of the reason.

We saw some of the same with the two shows in Chicago--Lots of folks in the parking lot of Saturday night trying to get anything for their extra tickets.

Everybody grew up. Just kidding of course.

Maybe it's just the time of year. When you've been cooped up all winter and the spring hits, a Buffett show with all the tropic add-ons is just the perfect way to usher in the long awaited warm weather. Some of the luster just may be gone toward the end of summer for some folks.

Don't get mad -- just a thought.

or the realization comes that another season is coming to an end, on top of the economy/prices/etc.

Sounds like they would be the seats that come with waitress service and access to the Golden Courtyard (or whatever Comcast is calling it now) bathrooms!

it's the ticket prices. lot's of my friends who are not diehard fans used to go when the tix were $25 for lawn and $75 for seats. but now lawn seats are $75 and seats are $156 (even the uncovered). so now they only go every other year or every couple of years
