Any bad traffic stories from last night's show at Nissan?
Just wondering what time to leave for the show tomorrow from Maryland. I haven't heard anyone complain about the traffic in or out so hoping there wasn't much to report.

I am not too familiar with the area this was my first time there...we stayed at the Courtyard Marriott in Manassas. from there we got on to Rt 66. we hit some traffic on there before the venue exit. we took exit 43 B and made a left onto Lee Highway. We went 2 or 3 lights to Linton Road. There is a shopping center with Target, Lowes and a bunch of other stores. We made a left onto Linton and then the first left into the shopping center. We all met to caravan at the Lowes which is towards the back of the shopping center. OUt of the Lowes parking lot we took a left and went towards the back of the shopping center. At the end of that road we took a left which took us on to the road that the Nissan Pavillion is on. We hit almost NO traffic going into the venue this way. the lots opened at noon yesterday. Hope this helps! Have a great time at the show!

I can't help you.
we left early because we had our 12 year old with us.
He enjoyed the show but was tired.
we were okay with it because as much as I love Jimmy,
I have seen that same show about 50 times now.
The parking seemed a lot more tame and organized, but I am sure it was a cluster. My brother was there also, I can ask him what his experience was like and get back to you.

Getting In: Not really a problem. We landed about 3pm. By the time you snaked your way through the lot it took maybe 10-15 minutes or so.
Getting Out: Not very good. I thought VDOT has solved the traffic problems around Bristow before last year's show. We have been so used to the colossal gridlock getting out of Nissan that we usually fire the grills back up again and eat some more. At least that's what we've done for the past 10 years. However, with the new road system and interchange out on I-66, they were able to get folks out of the lots MUCH quicker last year. We fired up the grill, and we promptly told we had to leave. The whole place was empty in probably an hour.
Expecting the same level of service this year, I was quite disappointed when after about and hour, there were still people wasting gas sitting in lines trying to get out. I'm not sure what the hold-up was this year, but don't plan on getting home early unless you plan on leaving the concert before Jimmy's last note has been played.
BTW-Still a great show, and one of the better tailgates (as Jimmy mentioned during the show).

We went to the Saturday show, and came from the Annapolis area. I must admit, as far as the ride to the show, best ever. Didn't hit any traffic at all down the beltway, and down 66. We left at 1:00 and I think we were all settled with the grill lit by 2:15 or 2:30.
After the show, it was the same old crap. We got to the car at 11:00, and didn't get out of the lot until about 12:10. Just sat and sat and sat. We were in a far back lot. After about one hour, it just suddenly started moving, then we were out in 30 seconds. .
Any way, that is our story. Good luck and have fun. Be safe driving home. Lot's of cops out on the road when we left, especially on 66.

I don't know where Dan and allucaneatbuffett parked but premium parking is well worth the $30 fee attached to it. Yes I know we pay enough already but how bad do you need to leave and get home at a reasonable time?
Also another plus is the lot is very near a grove of trees and grass. MUCH cooler and closer to the gate.
We left the venue in about 10 minutes and were home by 11:30 on Saturday. Now Monday was a different story because we rode our club bus and we had to wait for some "lost" pholks.
My advice is to factor the cost of parking into the whole tab for the night.

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Pinot Noir in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and screaming "WOO HOO"

Carolina, yeah, we were all over that premier parking stuff. Yet we got there at about 2:00 and they said it was sold out....
when we made a left into the parking lot, we went in, made another left and went way back in some far off parking lot I didn't even know was there.
It was fun, alot of great people to tailgate with, but the parking lot was just to far from the entrance to make a quick escape.
$30 is nothing for premier parking. if you have a car of at least 4 people the cost is nothing per person.

We were in the RV lot, right along the first row, for both days. We hung out for an hour or so after the show, waiting for the lots to clear. We stayed 'til the Fun Police told us to leave. When we left, Monday night, the message boards along the roads were flashing "Fins Up".
