BTW I hear there is some great surfing in CR. ;)
I was in Costa Rica in January '06 ..... LOVED it. After 4 days in the Arenal volcano rain forest region we finally went to the coast. For 3 days each morning I took a 3 hour longboard lesson from a beautiful 22 year old girl named Sunrise (honest). I was in Playa Samara where her father owned a Gym and Surf Shop right on the beach. For much of the 3 hours each morning, she and I were the only ones in the water. The beach at Playa Samara was in a protected cove and had perfect waves for longboarding ... consistent, long breaking along the coast and only about 3-4 feet. I am a retired short boarder from my younger days ... and quite frankly was never that good on a short board. Longboarding has rejuvinated my surf spirit.

For the big waves of Costa Rica ... you want Tamarinda and the spots in that area of the coast. Lots of info out there if you google Costa Rica Surf. Enjoy!

Here are a few photos from Playa Samara.

According to lonely planet guide book Sunrise has professional certifications in massage! SP did you partake of a massage? :)

I've always wanted to get a massage but haven't had one yet. Did schedule on a dive trip in Honduras but the lady was sick and my appointment was cancelled. :(

Surfer Duck..... can the hog get up on a surf board?
Dennis Wilson, the original drummer and one of the founding Beach Boys ....... was the only Beach Boy who could actually surf.

Dennis drowned in 1983. Every touring Mike Love version of the Beach Boys from that day forward was missing any semblance of the original innocence (Brian Wilson had quit touring way back in the 1960s). Today's touring Beach Boys, still led by Mike Love is sadly, in my opinion, a nostalgic joke.
Stan Love, (Mike Love's brother) asked me out on a date once......
there has to be a joke in there...

Ha ha! Yes .... yes she does ..... and no, no I didn't. Her father Jesse is a body builder and weight lifter .... a HUGE guy and he's right there in the gym/surf shop on the beach.

On the wall, next to several trophies, are several photos of Jesse with Arnold Schwartzenagar (sp?). Jesse makes Arnold look puny.

Back in my skateboardin' days I wore a white corderoy SEX WAX hat everywhere. Hmm... I think it was taken by a teacher that didn't like what it said
WAX! WAX! WAX!
just tryin' to get by being quiet and shy...
