ISLAND IMAGES (the name of one of my side businesses since 1995).
I have a friend in Baltimore who owns a 37 foot boat, named the HAPPY HOUR II . He also has a twisted fascination with the number 69, and all of it's perceived connotations.
When he was looking to named the boat, I suggested the S.S. El X Aye X (think Roman numerals ...... LXIX).

Vailima
The name of Robert Louis Stevenson's estate in Samoa. Means 'five creeks.'
Sorry...I hate "cutesy" names for boats. Well, sailboats. Power boats have few (if any) redeeming features, so silly name away!!!!!
***edited to add: I don't have a boat yet. Hope to build one someday.

There was recently a boating accident here that cost two men's lives. It was very sad as they also had families. However, the name of the boat was the Dingbat.

The current boat is Four Play, leaning toward Childs Play for the next one depending on what it is.

there were a couple of boats in my family many years ago....
Moth Boat
Sea Fever
Sea Fever was actually the name of several boats-- so i guess it is possible to rename a boat safely

Just bought our boat about 3 months ago, and it didn't come with a name. I guess I'll use this winter to name her.

When I was small my parents had a boat named 'Dammit'... my mom said it was because that was what they said to her all the time... when we get ours, after we stop living on islands, maybe Sail Free?
Jimmy's crewed on Aries, Blitz, Rapid Transit, and Alter Ego.
You can change the name. Just re bless the boat. Best champagne and a priest.
By the way, Receta is here in Trinidad just now, waiting for the hurricane season to end... guess she'll return to Toronto then. (This is for everybody who's read "An Embarrassment of Mangoes".)

Had an old boat once named it ,oh s***.The day my brother and I bought it we blew out two tires trailoring her home, too excited to wait for all the propper registration work we went strait to the river grabbed some beer and launched her, dead battery, pulled the battery out of my truck fired her up and off we went she was great, and good looking made waves until the fish and boat commision showed up to have a look..no fines but they prompted us to take her home and make it all legal,so we pulled up to the launch took the battery up to the truck, now its dead!!Got a jump and took her home. All day we seemed to be saying Oh s***!!! and thats how she got her name.Paid 500 bucks for her ,a 1963 loweline 18 ft,she was pretty and fun.Lottsa river fun many days of naked tubing(always lost suits anyway, cheaper to strip before getting on the tube)Sold her for 500 bucks, and the guy tore the lower unit up on her and gave her away.

We have five "boats" and none of them are named.
Perhaps this thread will help out with that...
two kayaks, a canoe, a minifish sailboat, and a small fishing boat.
None of them have motors.
