Are they still going to go with a 11am lot opening?

This sucks. If wish they gave to option of getting our money back for tickets because I wouldn't go.

Coming?

I assume by your post you aren't coming to the show.....so I'm not quite sure what value it adds to our conversation.....but thanks for chiming in......considering we have tickets that cost $160 and have been planning for months....you'll excuse those of us who need a few moments to get over the initial let down.......I guess being a moderator here also lets one be the judge of others' emotions now.

But Penny IS right. It could be worse, the show could be cancelled. Instead, the powers at be decided that it would be most fair to change to an earlier start.

What is more important, tailgating all day or your safety? I think they took those two factors into consideration and made a wise decision.

Lots

I guess we can hope Comcast comes through with the lots earlier.....it'd be nice to know for sure before we show up at 9:15 or so though...:)

Truthfully, I'm really surprised with the change...I think some people won't know......

And god knows they'll shoo our asses out of there right after and we won't be grilling those last burgers to go.....:/

Is what it is I guess......So much for the light up stuff.......

Nope. Not judging at all. Just putting things in perspective. We've not had ANY show in 4 years. I'd be thrilled to just go and see him sing one more time, and not worry about how I can't spend hours in the lots eating, drinking, and socializing.

I wish it was canceled. To me a 3pm start is worse than no show. I don't care about missing out on tailgating, I have friends who have Saturday morning plans and were not planning on getting there until 3-4 and now they have to eat their tickets. The show could have been PPD if they are so concerned for people's safety, people still have to drive home after the show and it's still up in the air when the storm will hit if at all. It's just another example of Buffett losing touch with his fanbase but it is a business and he didn't come to Mass to cancel a show and lose out on the bottom line.

Experience

If they cancelled we'd get a refund.....no concert is worth $160....the -experience- is what is worth $160 to us......

I'm not running out to buy bread and water.....honestly.....I think we're over-reacting a bit......I could totally end up eating my words.....but it seems extreme right now.

If the storm doesn't hit, stay in the parking lot and party after the show?

Maybe it COULDN'T be postponed to another date? Maybe it's not Jimmy's decision? I don't know, just throwing stuff out there.

the great part about an 8pm start is you can get there noonish party until 5 then have a couple hours to sober up before the show...i just picture a lot of people binge drinking due to the short tailgate making for even more unsafe conditions coming home

I would imagine postponing it is extremely difficult to do not only with the band's schedules, but with crew, venues, etc schedules. That would be a nightmare to try and get everyone together again for one night. Thats why these shows are planned almost a year in advance.

I imagine that they area also trying to have the show that day because tons of people have already set aside that day for the concert and might not be able to change plans to another day easily.

My very first Buffett concert was the postponed Chicago concert after 9/11. Luckily we were able to rearrange our vacations from work (It was a Thursday) and go...but I know that lots ov people were unable to go because of the reschedule....

Then cancel it! He canceled shows in Irvine when his mother passed. Canceling a concert because of weather and safety concerns is not unprecedented esp. when the exact time the storm is going to hit is still unknown.

I don't care about losing out on 5-hours of tailgating and to be quite honest it works out for me, I have to be somewhere near my house in W-Mass at 10am Sunday morning so getting out of Great Woods early will get me home earlier Saturday night and give me a solid night of sleep. But giving a choice of a 3pm show or no show I'd vote for no show at all. I have seen him over 50 times, I'd just assume get my $160 back and spend the day watching college football.

GW has a capacity of 19,900 - over/under 14,500 people at the show Saturday?

From M/ville
September 6th Start Time Changed to 3pm for Comcast Center show in Mansfield, MA
Trying to reason with hurricane season.... Due to the weather expected from Hurricane Hanna that is approaching New England, Saturday's show will start at 3:00pm instead of 8:00pm.

Parking lots will open at 8:00 AM Saturday morning.
Door time will be 2:00 PM.
Jimmy Buffett and the Coral Reef Band will perform at 3:00 PM.

Wow...I'll bet the majorityof the folks with tickets would rather have an early concert than no concert. I know that I would. I expect most of the foks have not been so lucky as to have seen Jimmy 50 times.
