Are they still going to go with a 11am lot opening?
This sucks. If wish they gave to option of getting our money back for tickets because I wouldn't go.
From M/ville
September 6th Start Time Changed to 3pm for Comcast Center show in Mansfield, MA
Trying to reason with hurricane season.... Due to the weather expected from Hurricane Hanna that is approaching New England, Saturday's show will start at 3:00pm instead of 8:00pm.
Parking lots will open at 8:00 AM Saturday morning.
Door time will be 2:00 PM.
Jimmy Buffett and the Coral Reef Band will perform at 3:00 PM.
Cool they changed it recently. I once got to Great Woods at 6am for a show so 8am, that is doable

Maybe it COULDN'T be postponed to another date? Maybe it's not Jimmy's decision? I don't know, just throwing stuff out there.
I would imagine postponing it is extremely difficult to do not only with the band's schedules, but with crew, venues, etc schedules. That would be a nightmare to try and get everyone together again for one night. Thats why these shows are planned almost a year in advance.
Then cancel it! He canceled shows in Irvine when his mother passed. Canceling a concert because of weather and safety concerns is not unprecedented esp. when the exact time the storm is going to hit is still unknown.
I don't care about losing out on 5-hours of tailgating and to be quite honest it works out for me, I have to be somewhere near my house in W-Mass at 10am Sunday morning so getting out of Great Woods early will get me home earlier Saturday night and give me a solid night of sleep. But giving a choice of a 3pm show or no show I'd vote for no show at all. I have seen him over 50 times, I'd just assume get my $160 back and spend the day watching college football.
GW has a capacity of 19,900 - over/under 14,500 people at the show Saturday?
Wow...I'll bet the majorityof the folks with tickets would rather have an early concert than no concert. I know that I would. I expect most of the foks have not been so lucky as to have seen Jimmy 50 times.
I am not so sure, the people I spoke with tonight, most said they would prefer their money back and no show.

If you're worried about making out with your date before dark just close your eyes. If that still scares the crap out of you... like the previous post says "upgrade".

HAHA, I would take less than face value for them if someone made a offer but that are not good seats but cost just as much as front row. Once the 3pm start time is known by more people tomorrow you won't be able to give away the tickets away.

Its my job to fly the Hurricanes.... I have to put my life on hold during Hurricane Season especially July, August and Sept..... that 3 months of FLYING thru storms and NOT knowing what day is, what time it is, or what changes have occurred in my family........ flying every 16 hours.... 10+ hour NONSTOP flights.... you don't see me complaining.
3pm start vs an 8pm start......you can adjust......

Personally, I think this totally blows. I don't even see how they can do this without offering a refund if you can't make it. I have plans to go down with 8 people in an RV. One of them is due into Manchester NH at 10:30 AM and the other (who's coming from CA) is not due into until 11:30 AM. Yay! We'll be in Mansfield (if we're lucky) by 1:30 PM. Just enough time drink a beer, scratch my ass and maybe take a p***. Booooo!!!!!! Not happy...

Yeah, I know... I should be happy to have a show at all. Whatever... In case you hadn't noticed. A Jimmy Buffett show is 66% about the parking lot and 33% about the concert. It's what put him on the map.
btw - Here's some of my pics from today's show...

Party before AND party afterward!!!
That's a GOOD thing!!
I agree 110% - have a great time before, during AND after. You can really make it a whole day if you start at 8:00 AM.
BTW - Anyone hear of any plans for a unified after party yet or is everyone planning on staying in the lots (unitl booted out) or going backl the hotels? Just curious

C'mon... Do you honestly think they're going to let people party in the lots until dark?

As soon as the show's over (say 5:30 PM) they're going to start ushering people out the door.

Yep, they're gonna want us out of there, and I guess you can't blame them...

In case
YOU hadn't noticed, this is not the case for a very large number of people.
8 people in an RV means there can be 7 people paryting from 11:30 on. The person driving shouldn't be drinking in the parking lot anyway. 2 1/2 hours is not enough time to sober up for the drive home (ESPECIALLY with 7 other person's lives in their hands). Me, I wouldn't mind the 3:00 start time, that way I can see exactly which one of you 66 percenters is urinating on my blanket.

I know a bunch of us are at the Comfort inn.....probably have a Hurricane party there if they throw us out of GW

Exactly - I'd be ticked if they'd cancelled, this is my one big Jimmy event of the year and it's worth every single dime I'm going to lay out. This is a situation where you can't please everyone as I posted in the refund thread
The lots are going to open at 8 so people whose sole purpose is to come and get as hammered as possible can still do their thing. But I have to say, if people are going to stay home just because they can't tailgate and drink all day, I'm good with that. Perspective people, the concert is still happening, if you have to adjust your day to see it, then do it. If you can't I'm sorry. I've bought concert tickets to events in Boston before knowing that if it snowed big that day I couldn't go, I ate the tickets. Life happens.

I'm sorry but I can't believe the whining. Geez.
They are saying that damaging winds are possible in SE Mass overnight tomorrow. I'm sure the powers that be were looking at that since those lots would still have people in them after midnight.

Yep, and besides that, the chances of losing power are not remote.... You can't have a concert no matter how badly you want to if there's no power....
50+ MPH winds in a party lot full of trash makes for a lot of unguided missiles.

Yep, as I posted yesterday, they factored in 1. people being able to tailgate all day, OR 2. starting the show earlier for people's safety.
Kinda a no-brainer.
