Do you fear having a boring life?

Nope, not a concern of mine.

I have enough projects, patterns, yarn, beads, etc etc. to keep me busy through 3 lifetimes. I only hope to live long to do half the stuff I have planned.

The days all fly by for me. I can't remember the last time I was bored.

(Well maybe I do....but it was when I was working...BR--before retirement)

From the perspective of being a student and practitioner of Buddhism, boredom is connected to craving and attachment which are to be given up.

The human mind thrives on novelty, so things that were once a source of pleasure can become tedious after a time. Though our lives are full, boredom lurks around every corner because we innately long for new experiences.

What about the now? We get so busy with something else, someone else, somewhere else; never now, never this. You may be eating a marvellous meal, delicious cuisine, but already you are thinking about the movie you are going to go to afterwards. You go to a park with beautiful flowers and you look at them. At first you are struck by the colours and shapes, but within a few moments you are thinking about something else. How short our attention span is: beautiful things only hold our attention for a few moments. The ordinary has a poor chance of interesting us for more than a few moments.

As Michael says, "Live. Live, live, live, LIVE!"

Be present to the moment. Be aware.

I totally agreee, Cate. I often annoy people around me because I pretty much live in and for the moment. I know that has it's drawbacks, and yes...there may be other things to look forward to in the future, but I've found what is important to me and what keeps my life moving forward, as crazy as it is sometimes, is taking the time to enjoy what is taking place...now.

Nope. My life is far from boring, although when taking a vacation, a few hours of boredom is wonderful. My family, my job, and my husband make my world the best.
