Do you fear having a boring life?

Just curious...

I picked up "Where Is Joe Merchant" today to read it again (been SEVERAL years) and a line in the first few pages caught my attention... Frank Bama's deepest fear was "a boring life."

That line hit me square between the eyes. While "a boring life" certainly isn't my DEEPEST fear, it's pretty high on the list. Think that's why I tend to keep adding to my list of hobbies/interests/recreational activities.

Currently, I am.... working full time... restoring an old convertible... coaching my kids baseball/basketball/soccer teams... serving as commissioner of the basketball and soccer leagues and handling the scheduling/referees for baseball and softball... starting to build a boat (20 ft. mahogany runabout)... writing a political blog... going to Jimmy concerts as often as I can... reading a book or so every other week... teaching graduate classes... planning to write a book...

You get the idea.

I'm even on record as wishing I could sleep less and skip eating and using the bathroom so there would be time to do more stuff.

So, how about it? Do ya'll live in fear of the "boring life," or am I just a mega-caffeine addict that needs to chill out a little? :o

more being taken for granted than leading a boring life. I am sure I do the latter, but I hope the former doesn't happen.

When I was in my late 20's/early 30's, I thought I was the definition of a boring life.
It's funny how my views on that have changed as I've gotten older.

Bottom line-although I joke about it incessantly, I love my life and living it.
A person only gets out of it what they put into it. There's been very boring days for me, and very exciting days. It's what you decide to make it.
As for me, I wouldn't change anything. Not exactly ecstatic about how my life has gone, but definately content and happy.

This coming from the only man who Jimmy Buffett himself envies.

Um.... sure.... what with all the photos posing with beautiful women... if that's dull, I doubt I'd be able to handle your definition of excitement!

The thought terrifies me..... Really.....

Because Thoreau said The mass of men lead lives of quiet desperation and I don't wanna be one of them.

I'd rather have this said about me when I'm gone: “Life is not a journey to the grave with intentions of arriving safely in a pretty well-preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out and loudly proclaiming ... WOW! What a ride!”

It depends on your definition of boring. Life isn't all about excitement and adventure. I worry more about not being happy.

A boring life? Nope. I fear having a non-meaningful life.

Maybe it has to do with being chronologically gifted but I'd hate to reach the end of the journey and turn around to discover that I'd left no footprints ..... no evidence that I'd passed this way.

Exactly......it's all about impact....

My life isn't exciting.....by Jimmy Buffett standards.....but I've helped people when I can, I've made them laugh when I can (and sometimes when I shouldn't) , I'd walk through fire for the people I care about (and they, for me).....and I hope I will continue to do that until the day I die.

"It's my job to be different than the rest
and that's enough reason to go for me
It's my job to be better than the best
and that's a tough break for me"

That's something I won't ever have to worry about.

Some people will tell you that slow is good - and it may be, on some days - but I am here to tell you that fast is better. I've always believed this, in spite of the trouble it's caused me. Being shot out of a cannon will always be better than being squeezed out of a tube. That is why God made fast motorcycles, Bubba....

A wife, two kids, two dogs always keeps things exciting around my house. Everytime I sit down and think I am going to relax, something always comes a long to make it a little more interesting.

If I had wanted boring, I never would have gotten married :D
