I was just thinking after looking at the poll question about refunds, I never even thought about that! I was thinking that we might not be able to use any type of tent in the lot, grilling will be messy and that since we have open air seating I should go over to the Army / Navy store to get paunchos and maybe trying some Rain-X on my old glasses so I can see in the bad weather.
I was also kind of laughing about how Great Woods last night looked like a California baseball game. Lots of people came in late ( this could be because the tailgating was almost just too good to stop) but lots of people were leaving early. I have only been going since about 1990 but I don't remember things being quite like this!
Sorry about the whining, I have to go to get some paunchos and Rain-X now!

LOL...when Jimmy took a break last night, I visited the bathrooms right at the point where you enter Great Woods.
I was surprised to see a lot of people leaving, they didn't seem angry...just leaving (on such a beautiful night!).
There was a big sign saying "no readmission" - but perhaps they were letting people back in last night...but I felt like saying "wait...there's a lot more good stuff coming!"

This year's Atlanta show was the worst of the 25+ Buffett shows I've been to. Bad sound, mediocre set list, bad new arrangements of classic songs. I still had a great time but it was a little disappointing. I also had 4 first timers with me who seemed very disappointed.
The show was great but the sound system at Greatwoods really sucked. I don't think I've ever been to a venue with worse audio. I was looking forward to being wowed after hearing comments that the sound system at Greatwoods was far superior to Gillette stadium but really Gillette stadium has a MUCH better sound system.
Also, I noticed, this was my first Greatwoods Buffett show, that contrary to what I had been told even the tailgating at Gillette was better. Don't get me wrong, a bad day of tailgating is still good.
Given my experience at the two venues:
Gillette - spacious parking and tailgating, lively crowd, great sound system, room for ALL the Buffett fans who want to be there
Greatwoods - Many Phans had nowhere to setup the tailgate, sound system sucked, extremely limited venue so most Phans are left out in the cold, cops came around twenty minutes after the show yelling and intimidating Phans who had food on the grill not knowing they were shutting down the parking lots and forcing Phans to sit in traffic with those who were trying to leave early, And people thought the town of Foxboro was bad but Mansfield made them look like angels

I thought this years Atlanta show was one of THE best I'd seen. The BN'ers I went with also agreed.
i dont think its so much that the times are changin' but more of the fact that the fans need a little relief from the high priced tickets and repetitious setlists.these are easily fixable to somebody like jimmy buffett!

And most people who are fans of musicians might see their favorite artist once a year if they are lucky. Just because Jimmy has a busy tour schedule does not mean that you need to keep going to see him.
We are spoiled fans. We have tons of dates to choose from and can listen to EVERY other concert live on RM.
Artists don't change their setlists every 5 minutes for the small portion of whining fans that they have.
actually jimmys tour schedule isnt that largel. 30-35 shows a year is not many when compared to other acts who do 50-100 shows a year. and im not talking young ones either.neil diamond is older than jimmy and hes doing around 70 shows.
i do agree his legion of fans are spoiled by radio margaritaville and setlist spoilers but you dont have to listen or look at those. and inflation or not ticket prices are still high for the average fan during tough economic times.

I am wowed by the magic Jimmy brings. I see several shows each year and have not been disappointed once. I am blessed and thankful to have the chance and the means to keep seeing Jimmy. Both Nissan shows were wonderful this year and I can't wait to see him hopefully in Florida later this year. Same set list or not, I am still in awe of the man and his music.

He reduced the size of the band by 25% (Heather, Jules, Amy and T.C.) and raised ticket prices for pavilion seats from the $90 range to $125+. That's a rise of 30% or more, much more than the rate of inflation.
No pauncho (I gave it to my sis-in-law) lots of rain, open air seats and all, I had a great time!
I would love to see an afternoon show with nice weather!

Jimmy please bring it back to Gillette next year!
You are a majority of one I believe.
The tailgating at Gillette was so crowded you stepped on people while trying to walk around. Inside the stadium I was in the second row and he may as well have been a mile and a half away - it's a terrible venue for a concert. Did I still have fun? Yes. But I hope he never goes back there again. Ironically on Saturday afternoon at GW this year, even with the change in start time, rain etc. the place was PACKED. Normally there are lots of empty seats that the cagey fan can move into during the first half of the show, there were NONE, possibly because of fear of weather but it looked like everyone showed up for the start of the concert. And I didn't see anyone leaving early even though the rain had stopped for the most part. I turned around as I always do during Fins and it was solid humanity, and kind of cool to be able to see all the way out to the lawn.
