Hunting and Fishing: Spring fishing recommendation: Chicken liver great for catfish baitVanillaGrl wrote:Mmmhmmm....I've eaten fried chicken liver too many times to count....but I had never had it in an omelette before.ragtopW wrote:Tequila Revenge wrote:LA explains the In-and-Out experienceVanillaGrl wrote:I am invariably the oddball in the group when we go out to eat. I had my very first fried chicken liver omelette at Roscoe's Chicken 'n Waffles when we were in L.A. a couple of weekends ago...my friends were disgusted by it! LOL But once I saw that on the menu, it was like anything else on there was just not going to work.![]()

Our method for catching loads of these fish is extremely simple. We fish from the bank and we use light tackle, usually spinning gear spooled with an eight- or 10-pound-test line. We tie on a light wire hook, put a few split-shot sinkers above that and wad a generous amount of chicken liver onto the hook.
The fresher and bloodier the liver is, the more the fish like it. I usually cut off a firm piece about the size of a silver dollar. We lob the setup as far out from the bank as we can throw it, place a few forked sticks in the ground, rest our rods in those sticks and lean back in lawn chairs to wait for the fish. A nice cooler of cold beer helps the waiting process significantly.
When a catfish decides to grab the chicken liver, it's easy to tell. I fish with just a little slack in my line, but when a fish bites, that slack will tighten and the rod will usually bend a good deal as the fish carries the liver away. I carefully pick the rod up and wait until I can feel the fish pulling the line. When the line gets tight, I set the hook and begin reeling

I've tried TWENTY of them........the other 80......no effin' way.
I have a very short list of meats I will eat........
guess I'm just not very food adventurous.......
