Herman Wouk to Be Honored

Post by phjim »

According to the New York Times, Jimmy Buffett will help to honor Herman Wouk, the author of the novel "Don't Stop the Carnival". The ceremony takes place in Washington D.C. on Wednesday September 10th.

The Supreme Court justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg and the musician Jimmy Buffett will help honor Herman Wouk, 93, the author of “The Caine Mutiny” and “The Winds of War,” among many other novels, when he receives the first lifetime achievement award for fiction writing from the Library of Congress on Wednesday. Martha Raddatz, the ABC News correspondent, will join other participants in reading from Mr. Wouk’s work at the event at the Library of Congress, which is free and open to the public.

Wow, I wish I were in DC today to see this. Not because JB will be there but because I'd love to see Herman Wouk honored!

Hmmmmmmm.........I'm in DC today......... :D
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Pinot Noir in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and screaming "WOO HOO"

I have totally rearrainged my schedule today, and I will be there! I'm going incognito (khaki's, button down non-floral shirt, no ball cap). I think Jimmy will be dressed a little bit upscale, and alot of the crowd will be too; I want to blend. :pirate:

video coming

Post by baadbobby »

I managed to get 99% of Jimmy's performance on VIDEO, it is uploading to youtube right now, it's going to be while because the video is about 28 minutes long, and my upstream link is very slow. I'll do my damndest to get it online tonight and post the link in this thread. I got to meet Bubba for about 1/2 a hot minute, he signed my inner sleeve booklet from Don't Stop the Carnival, no time for a pic with me though, but that's okay, it was Mr. Wouk's night. I have to say, it's very refreshing to hear a bunch of songs from Don't Stop... live/solo. :D

Okay, major problems uploading to youtube Wednesday night, then stupid work all day Thursday. I have spent the last 3.5 hours breaking up the video (because it was too long for youtube), uploading the video, etc. Now I have it split into 3 videos, and am just waiting for the last one to clear. I will post links in the Concert Trading forum as soon as # 3 clears.
