Buffett-related stuff to do in Aruba

Post by saintsomewhere »

The wife and I are going to Aruba in November to celebrate our 10 year wedding anniversary. Anyone have suggestions on Buffett-type stuff to do while we’re there? Thanks!

move somewhere where $8/hour and social security might actually allow living in something other than a small car?

I can empathize with the situation easily; just saying that there might be a couple things that could change too

Aruba Vacation

Post by JD »

Aruba is one of my favorite vacation spots. Buy yourself a "Frommers" book on Aruba at your local book store and it will tell you everything you need to know.
My wife and I enjoyed walking up and down Palm Beach stopping for a drink at different beach bars and trying different hotel resturaunts. There's a sidewalk that goes up and down Palm Beach, it's very easy and safe to check out all the hotels and what they have to offer. Shopping and nightlife is good in downtown Oranjestad which is walking distance to 10min. away from Palm Beach. Rent a car one day and check out the lighthouse and the natural bridge on the northeast side of the island. The island is not that big you can see most of it in one day. And if I didn't mention, park yourself under a palm tree on the beach with an umbrella drink and get lost in the book "A Salty Piece of Land" as the ocean laps at your feet.

thats it ! i'm booking my trip for this winter.

Go to Arashi beach. It is mostly used by the locals. Beautiful calm water and white sand beach. bring your ipod boom box with plenty of Buffett on it along with a case of Balashi beer. Enjoy the day.
Was just there and did this exact thing. Wonderful.

Go to Palm beach, lots of fun there, restaurant on the pier, etc. There is a bar bus tour, Kukoo Kunuku, was a fun night, the bus ride is a riot as you move from bar to bar, and the final stop is Carlos and Charlie's.

We also snorkeled over a german destroyer down there, be careful very rough currents there.

Have a great time [smilie=battingeyes.gif]

We took a sunset cruise on a catamaran which was really enjoyable. They had an open bar on the boat and it was nice having some drinks and enjoying the water. The particular one we went on was on Red Sail (?) from near the Hyatt on Palm Beach.

We also went on a snorkeling trip on a pirate ship called Mi Dushi which was a lot of fun too. That left from near the Holiday Inn on Palm Beach.

Maybe it's because in spite of all the work we do, it's the child in us we really value.
