2009 New England Parrothead Convention in So. Portland, ME

Post by finz2oob »

Hi Everyone,

Since the New England Parrothead Convention is only
about 3 months away, I wanted to share an update
of our tentative entertainment schedule. The Convention
will run Thursday evening March 5th to Sunday March 8th
2009 at the Sable Oaks Marriott in South Portland ME.
The Parrothead Club of Maine is the host and the theme
is "Tiki Time On The Maine Terrain." We are striving to have
multiple entertainment options going on simultaneously during
the course of the weekend so you can have something fun
to do at all times.

Thursday night will open up with "The Tiki Bar is Open" party
with Maine's own Corona Brothers and The Calypso Cowboys.

Friday we will have events all day for the early registrants
including a breakfast tailgate, pool party and a Welcome to Maine
Happy Hour with Rog and Ray. Friday night Scott Kirby and
Peter Mayer will perform followed by The Boat Drunks.

Saturday will have all day events including: a new version
of the door decorating contest called The Duval Crawl, a Tropical
Trash Yankee Swap, Parrothead games, a "Don't Stop The Carnival"
fair, a Toga Party with The Calypso Cowboys, Maine Comedian Tom Clark
during dinner, a raffle party with Sunny Jim White followed by
Jim Morris and Big Bamboo as the evening headliner.

Toby Tobas, a steel drum player who has
played in the Desperadoes steel drum band with Robert Greenidge
and has toured with Harry Belafonte will perform at the Saturday &
Sunday breakfasts.

The latest schedule with more specific details is on the ME
Parrothead Club website at: www.phcofmaine.com.

As you know, the convention will benefit area charities.
Hope to see many of you in March!

No offense but why would I want to be in Maine? In March. Way too cold, even in South Portland.
If you want an experience, go to a Jimmy Buffett concert.

Experience is something you don't get until just after you need it.

Life is short, live long!!

I'd rather be a wiseass than a dumbass.

yeah, because the Southside of the Charles River in Boston is so balmy in March that a trip to Maine would be such a change in climate . . .

Yup...might have to change out of your shorts and flip flops. The
weather is a lot different 90 miles north... Nothing that a little
tequila or rum couldn't take care of [smilie=gt-happyup.gif]

I'm thinking about it but I'd hate to get all jazzed and then get snowed in over here. For someone who's lived in the northeast her whole life I'm a pretty chickensh*t driver!

But in all seriousness, I wish I could attend. I won't even be in New England that weekend.

I have to work Thurs, Fri, and Sat, but might be able to squeeze some time in Sunday. We'll see!

I'm only 35 minutes away!
