What songs would you choose for "SYKBH 2"?

Post by bestseller92 »

If there was a "Songs You Know By Heart 2" in the works and you were asked for your opinion as to the tracks that should be included on it, which 13 (to mirror the number on the original) would you suggest?

Here's my provisional list (subject to change, and keeping in mind that most who bought "SYKBH" didn't actually know all the songs "by heart" until they bought the CD):

1. One Particular Harbour
2. Party at the End of the World
3. It's Five O'Clock Somewhere
4. Trying to Reason With Hurricane Season
5. Hey Good Lookin' (not my fave, but gotta include the hit singles)
6. Last Mango in Paris
7. Barometer Soup
8. Tin Cup Chalice
9. Fruitcakes
10. Distantly in Love
11. King of Somewhere Hot
12. Treat Her Like a Lady
13. Desperation Samba

Which songs would you select?

If there is a SYKBH 2, maybe that will allow for some different songs to creep into the roatation

1) I Have Found Me a Home
2) Migration
3) Tin Cup Chalice
4) Havana Daydreamin'
5) Coconut Telegraph
6) The Weather is Here
7) One Particular Harbor
8) Last Mango in Paris
9) Gypsies in the Palace
10) Fruitcakes
11) License to Chill
12) Bama Breeze
13) Here We Are

And as the bonus tracks I'll allow live versions of Southern Cross and Five O'Clock Somewhere

Those are not my 13 favorite songs, but songs I think would make a good 2nd "Hits" collection.

Most artists, when they do a second compilation of greatest hits, only include songs that were recorded after the first greatest hits album was released. In Jimmy's case, that would include the albums beginning with "Floridays" and going on up to "Take The Weather With You."

With that in mind, my SYKBY, Vol. 2 selections would include:

1 - Floridays
2 - Great Heart
3 - Off to See the Lizard
4 - The Pascagoula Run
5 - Fruitcakes
6 - Quietly Making Noise
7 - Barometer Soup
8 - School Boy Heart
9 - Far Side of the World
10 - Coast of Carolina
11 - Coastal Confessions
12 - Hey Good Lookin'
13 - It's Five O'Clock Somewhere

The last two aren't exactly my favs, but as someone else said, you gotta include the hits. After all, could you REALLY leave off "Margaritaville" from the original SYKBY? :D

According to my ipod "top 25 most played" list, my album should consist of these:

1. Coastal Confession
2. Coast of Carolina
3. Bama Breeze
4. Breathe In, Breathe Out, Move On
5. Duke's on Sunday
6. Here We Are
7. Savannah Fare You Well
8. Window on the World
9. Last Man Standing
10. Weather With You
11. Simply Complicated
12. Party At The End
13. Blue Guitar

I couldn't come up with an actual list, that'd take brain~power 8)

it's a 30gb with over 5500 songs on it. And I haven't listened to much Jimmy lately. But apparently I've listened to him the most :D

I did not mind "Meet me In Margaritaville"...All the live albums from Tiki Time were pretty much the same stuff. I liked "Live At Fenway". For the most part, I'd agree with your statement.

Instead of SYKBH Vol. 2, I'd rather see a set of unreleased stuff that's been left off the studio CDs, live tracks of songs he's never recorded (but please, not Trippin' Billies or Glory Days), stuff like that. Things we might not have 20 different versions of and haven't heard 100 times already.

SYKBH 2?

Why? I have any song that would be on SYKBH 2 because I own all the albums that he would poach songs off of.

NO MORE re-treads. Give us some rare, did not make the album, B-side stuff.

BTW Larry, who be the new hotty??

I thought about that, but I just couldn't leave off the pre-'85 "OPH" and the two tunes from "A1A" that I selected.
