Why??? I keep hearing people say things like this, bt they never explain why. What is it about this woman that makes people shake in their boots?? I don't like Obama, but he doesn't "scare" me. I'm concerned at the direction the country may take under his leadership, but I'm not "scared". Please, explain what it is exactly that has people hiding under the bed??
She was put in place to appease the far far right, Christian fundamentalist voters. Thats enough to make me cringe. Her principles and beliefs could not be further from anything I believe. On top of which, McCain is old and his health history spotty, we could actually end up with her in the White House. She can't even be trusted to answer reporters questions without looking silly and ill equipped - she'd be eaten alive on the world stage. Our world image is already shaky enough, we don't need a cute cheerleader for the right handling the red phone. She's probably a fine person but I know lots of nice people who shouldn't be running the country. If she were VP for someone younger and healthier I probably would have just laughed it off, but the odds aren't stacked in McCains favor.
her interview with Couric involved some serious questions and Palin pretty much blew her off...
she does not seem to realize that her creditability is on the line every second.
when asked to name one of McCain's accomplishments in 26 years her answer was flippant and outright ignorant (for a VP candidate, IMO)
as a lifetime registered Democrat and admitted bleeding heart Liberal, (well, at one time) I'm by no means an Obama/Biden fan...
I've witnessed a sitting President shot down, a probable President shot down after a triumphant victory in California, so the VP slot can be very important.
McCains age really doesn't
Just for disclosure - those two quotes were flipped.
I was not the one asking why - Staredge was.
I wrote a way too long dissertation and deleted it - but your points help sum up SOME of what I'm thinking. Additionally I don't want a Christian Fundamentalist who thinks the Iraq war is a "mission from God" anywhere near the White House. I have no problem with someone having strong religious beliefs but leave them out of your policy when you are running the country. Do I think Obama is the saviour? Of course not, our problems are too far reaching and complicated. But as I've said, I cannot vote for anyone who even hints at more of the same. Eight is enough!
And I share the concern that some white supremecist will make it past the Secret Service somehow. I would not have chosen Biden had it been me and it made me a little less enthusiastic about Obama. However, I at least feel he'd be COMPETENT should it come to that. Palin would be chewed up and spit out and worse yet I believe laughed at by the world community. If she can't handle an interview with an American journalist (even the right friendly folks at FOX) how on earth would she handle foreign policy?
I'd think that alone would be scary enough.
