So far it only applies to products made in, and for, the Asian market.
Cadbury Creme Egg Rolls?
According to the statement from Cadbury (in PDF) it only affects products exported to Taiwan, Hong Kong & Australia.
I believe the Cadbury chocolate sold in the US is actually manufactured by Hershey's.

I was made in Vietnam. I thought that was my redeeming quality and I was being brought down by my 1/4 Chineseness, but now it appears I've got nothing left to live for!

if anyone believes that just because someone says the bad products are only made for the Asian market and the US line is safe, you got another thing coming. You want to buy some cheap swamp land in Florida?

The thing that upsets me the most is that this crap is being done on purpose by people, knowing that melamine is bad, but trying to get their products to test higher for protein content.

Maybe China needs a tort law system like the US, if there's one thing the US does better than everybody else, it's sue people.

This is the problem. There are safety standards. There are known hazardous substances. Products shipped to the US have strict safety standards. The Chinese thumb their noses at the world and use lead paint, dump toxins in the food to raise nutritional reports, pour hazardous materials into their rivers and streams, not to mention their toxic emissions into the air. Kyoto protocall? Yuh, they are in compliance. The US ignores it too but in the US you don't need an air filtration mask to walk around town. Remember when Kathy Lee caught some crap because some kids in central america were making here clothing line? That's nothing compared to the human rights abuses the Chinese commit that we ignore all because we like cheap products. Oh yeah, nobody is paying attention but guess who is starting to exploit the African resources and people? Yup China. They really are not doing much to develop the continent they are sucking out the resources and moving on.
