I figure that it will be a few songs into the concert, and I'll just turn the volume down on the computer (that is assuming we are not also watching baseball-or is that game earlier?)

So how do you folks who live in New York City, or Denver, or other big cities feel about Sarah Palin saying you aren't pro-America?

"We believe that the best of America is in these small towns that we get to visit, and in these wonderful little pockets of what I call the real America, being here with all of you hard working very patriotic, um, very, um, pro-America areas of this great nation"

I'm sure she was playing to her base, trying to create that "us vs. them" mentality.
She can have all of those votes. She can deliver every vote from Alaska, too. It's not gonna be enough.

I think she needs to start planning for her post-election drama heating up back home, more than anything else.
Her wild'n'crazy adventure down in the lower 48 has about two weeks left.

If the people I saw interviewed after one of her rallies in Ohio are "Real" Americans then get me a ticket out of here. Apparently her supporters there still believe that he's a Muslim ("He's not even a Christian" - yeah like the "Christian" in the White House is such a prize), that "The blacks will take over" (these are actual quotes) and "He's a wolf in sheeps clothing but Sarah iseems filled with the Holy Spirit" OH and my favorite "You know you get a Negro (and I swear he may have said the other "n" word) running for President, he's second string, just second string" I could only watch a small amount of the clip (it's on YouTube) I didn't want to burst into flames so close to MOTM.

I don't live in a big city any longer but I think it goes further than that, I think both coasts are cast as the liberal devils as well. people who don't love their country. She just likes talking to these folks because they apparently don't read anything or watch any news broadcasts except Hannity & Colmes, so they don't ask her any hard questions, they just sit there nodding and cheering. It's always been the strong suit of the Rovians, divide and use fear.

Reading that quote, I don't see anything that says that big cities aren't pro-America.

It might not be enough with the fine folks at ACORN signing up all of those new voters in big cities like San Diego.
Robert A. Pennisi, San Diego County's chief deputy of voter services wrote: "the office has seen red flags in 17 percent of registrations collected by ACORN. Voter drives by other organizations usually have a rejection rate of less than 5 percent."

Perhaps then Palin should clarify and tell us what parts of the country she thinks are not pro-America. Those of you in North Carolina are safe though, that's where Palin was when she said that.

this election could easily end up a cluster f@@@ on a much larger scale than what Florida was in the last election....

if Obama is a shoo-in as many are saying, why is ACORN reverting to such tactics?

I would think that Obama would insist on an investigation into the allegations against ACORN.

as if we're not in enough mess with the banks and stock market, a mumbo-jumbo of this election isn't going to do anything to increase our respectability on a world level.

That would require that Palin actually hold a Press Conference. She has been the Republican nominee for V.P. of the United States of America for 7 WEEKS - AND she STILL has not held a press conference !

What are you trying to hide, John McCain? Are you afraid that the American public will actually get to hear first hand that she is totally unqualified for the position of V.P.?

California was going blue for Obama well before any voter REGISTRATION fraud allegations were made anywhere.
Los Angeles and San Francisco always make that a certainty. San Diego usually goes conservative nationally (for the defense spending).

Try this for analysis: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20081018/ap_ ... oolishness

It's important to keep that part in perspective that part about REGISTRATION, because that's where a lot of fraud is caught.
It's often tied to paid compensation for workers to bring in numbers of signatures.
At ACORN's foundation, the real goal is to get people out to vote.
Unfortunately, at election time, this is hardly anything new, ...but this also is not the more damaging crime that is VOTER fraud,
Elections CAN be swung by voter fraud, where ballots suddenly "disappear" after polls close,
and where voters are turned away at booths because of strong-arm tactics.

Registration fraud is a completely different animal
Mail-in pre-voting was not going to be swayed by these instances of registration mayhem.

That just makes no sense at all coming from you given some of your past posts. Although I will grant that you never said "What's the matter? Can't you take a joke?"
That usually means that I wasn't joking.

Have you got a beef about something specific, or are you just hoping to obfuscate things by making vague, unanswerable accusations?

If you've got something specific you'd like to discuss nonjudgmentally, in the hopes of gaining perspective and understanding and maybe developing a better connection, write me privately. Like I said, I'm good with discussing differences respectfully.

Otherwise, nice try but No Ceegar. It's 5:00 Friday; time to go somewhere.
PM on it's way.

I didn't realize that public speaking was the only necessary qualification of a VP candidate. And here I thought executive experience should count for something. You know, balancing a budget, taking on corrupt businesses and incumbents, military experience, she was after all commander in chief of the Alaska National Guard.

Maybe I am missing something, but how exactly does the Democratic VP candidate have any experience similar to Palin's?

On Sunday, breaking with a 150 year tradition of never endorsing a Democratic Candidate for President. The Chicago Tribune endorsed Barack Obama for President.

And for those that think this is because Obama is from Illinois, the Tribune never endorsed Adlai Stevenson when he was the Democratic nominee for President.

well, there's Russia for one...

oh wait, Joe Biden has ACTUALLY made official U.S. visits to Russia, Georgia, and other former Soviet bloc satellite countries.

Sarah Palin is the one who has a good view of a Russian iceberg from her place.

no....you're right.
Joe Biden does not have that kind experience that Sarah Palin does.

..and just think, in a few weeks, she'll be able to quietly enjoy that view again! YAY!! :D :D :D

No offense to anyone from Chicago - but the endorsement of the Chicago Tribune really does not impress me thanks to Howard Witt and his attempts to stir up racial problems in the south by making some issues much more than what they really are.

The Orlando Sentinel came out this weekend with their endorsement of Obama, after endorsing Bush in 2000 and Kerry in 2004.

So, in your book an official visit to a country is all the qualifications we need in a VP candidate. First they must be able to speak, the second is that they must be able to get into an airplane and travel while being a sitting senator.

Still nothing on Biden managing a budget, being commander in chief of anything or having any executive experience whatsoever. And this is the guy who is a heartbeat away from another guy who has no experience whatsoever. I am starting to think that the other thread about charisma is spot on.

Here's a list of what papers have endorsed each candidate thus far. You'll have to scroll down just a little to where the list begins.

Totally unrelated to anything the paper's editorial board might do.

Well, this should make everyone feel much more secure :o :o

ABC News’ Matthew Jaffe Reports: Sen. Joe Biden, D-Del., on Sunday guaranteed that if elected, Sen. Barack Obama., D-Ill., will be tested by an international crisis within his first six months in power and he will need supporters to stand by him as he makes tough, and possibly unpopular, decisions.

“Mark my words,” the Democratic vice presidential nominee warned at the second of his two Seattle fundraisers Sunday. “It will not be six months before the world tests Barack Obama like they did John Kennedy. The world is looking. We’re about to elect a brilliant 47-year-old senator president of the United States of America. Remember I said it standing here if you don’t remember anything else I said. Watch, we’re gonna have an international crisis, a generated crisis, to test the mettle of this guy.”
