Secret Service.

Obama requested Secret Service protection early in his campaign. Earlier than any other candidate in history.
I really can't fault him for requesting the protection - there's still a bunch of racist extreme radicals out there with the attitude of "I would love to put a bullet in that n....." I thought it was primarily and attitude of the south, but I've found I was wrong and stereotyped my fellow southerners unjustly. I've been really shocked at how some up here in the liberal PNW have been expressing their displeasure in his race.

I agree, Connie.....
I don't begrudge ANY candidate SS protection.....
it is an unfortunate commentary on the world we live in.

The surprising part to me is its happening now. A mere 40 some odd years after the civil rights movement in our country. In the grand scheme of history I think this is a short time. Not in a bad way but something to be proud of.

Did ya'll hear the report about the Obama volunteers in Florida being spat on and sworn at ... and had N-lover flung at them over and over? These were senior citizens.
What were the 60s for?

worse than that, there's been reports of gun shots close to some of the polling places, for the past several days, near J'ville...
of course, that's nothing unusual for J'ville.
Minimum wait of an hr. to hour and half to three hrs. reported last week, for early voters in Florida, also.

Today the US invaded Syria as part of its War in Iraq to carry out a commando mission. There were militants smuggling weapons and such in to the Iraqi insurgents located 5 miles over the Syrian border.
We've now engaged another of the "Axis of Evil". Its good to see the Bush Admin doing what it can to push the Republican ticket.

I saw on the news last week the Republican party there has arranged the early voting hours in a way least conducive to the public there. Something like during work hours and like 3 hours on a Saturday or something goofy.
I told someone recently that there's another good chance we may not know who our president is the evening of Nov 4th. Everyone has Lawyers somewhere looking to sue someone. Obama has a special section in the volunteer section for attorneys who wish to volunteer against voter fraud.
11/4 will likely make for some good TV. I may have to call in with Fun Poisoning on that Wednesday.

Invasion?
That would imply we moved forces across Syria's border with the intent to occupy... like Iraq.
That was more like a hit'em fast mission.
In one regard you're right.
Bush would push the button right now to do anything to salvage his pitiful legacy

The only thing pitiful about his legacy is the man who will succeed him.

OK we ding dong ditched in Syria with guns and casualties on the enemy side.
Gary believe in your candidate and the democracy we have. It could be close still. Perhaps McCain makes lemonade from this . . . .

Although he was my 5th choice in the primaries (after Duncan, Fred, Rudy, & Mitt), I do believe in my candidate.
It's the American voters who I don't trust.

So you stand behind the party ideals not so much so the candidate . . . I can totally respect that.

It may seem that way, but I do choose the candidate that most closely represents MY ideals.
Back in March/April when everyone except Homer Simpson was a Republican candidate, the one who most closely represented my views was Duncan Hunter (congressman from California).
He dropped out, as did the others, until it was down to just John McCain.
Don't get me wrong-I LOVE the guy & admire his going WAY above & beyond his dedication to his service for his country-he just wasn't my first choice.
But between him and Obama, I really HAVE no choice.

Understood. I liked Mitt.

Years ago I thought of him as "just another Republican/small fish in a big pond."
THEN the people of
MASSAFREAKINGCHUSETTS, of all places, elects this guy as their governor, and that's when I started paying attention to him.
When a bunch of people who are about 20 miles to the left of RUTH BUZZI GINSBERG elect a Republican, you DEFINATELY take notice.

As far as I'm concerned, the birth certificate "issue" is a NON-issue.
