Rapper Ice Cube decries senseless gun violence:
http://www.cnn.com/2008/SHOWBIZ/Music/1 ... index.html
The song "Why Me?" speaks out against senseless violence and gun crime devastating communities. Cube says Jamiel Shaw Jr.'s family is a powerful illustration of the pain that lingers after a murder.
"It just was a tragic, tragic story of why," Cube says. "Young people are dying for no reason all over the world that don't know why. It's ugly, everywhere."
Gee, Mr. Cube - have you ever thought that just
maybe you and your ilk have contributed to this problem? I mean, you set such a good example for inner city youth with positive, enlightening lyrics such as:
<boy, I sure hope BN's censoring feature is up to this task...>
Straight outta Compton, crazy motherf**ker named Ice Cube
From the gang called Niggaz With Attitudes
When I'm called off, I got a sawed off
Squeeze the trigger, and bodies are hauled off
You too, boy, if ya ***** with me
The police are gonna hafta come and get me
Off yo ass, that's how I'm goin out
For the punk motherf**kers that's showin out
Niggaz start to mumble, they wanna rumble
Mix em and cook em in a pot like gumbo
Goin off on a motherf**ker like that
with a gat that's pointed at yo ass
So give it up smooth
Ain't no tellin when I'm down for a jack move
Here's a murder rap to keep yo dancin
with a crime record like Charles Manson
AK-47 is the tool
Don't make me act the motherf**kin fool
Me you can go toe to toe, no maybe
I'm knockin niggaz out tha box, daily
yo weekly, monthly and yearly
until them dumb motherf**kers see clearly
that I'm down with the capital C-P-T
Boy you can't ***** with me
So when I'm in your neighborhood, you better duck
Coz Ice Cube is crazy as *****
As I leave, believe I'm stompin
but when I come back, boy, I'm comin straight outta Compton

I listened to NWA back in the day, and never did I ever have the urge to shoot anybody. It's amazing what common sense will do to a person.

Maybe so, but it's a bit hypocritical to make a living (and a damn good one, at that) glamorizing gang violence, then turn around and say "gee, I wish these inner city kids would stop shooting each other".
Kinda like Dave Thomas rising from the dead to tell us the Baconator is bad and we should stop eating greasy fast food.

I agree it's a bit hypocritical, but NWA was a pretty long time ago, and it's good to see Mr. Cube come around to the "good" side.
It's not like that song (the NWA one) was written last week, that album was released what, 15 years ago? I bet he's matured a lot since then, and realizes the error of his ways, this is probably his way to "make it right", so to speak.
And the Baconator is bad? Blasphemy.

Hypocritical or not, I'd rather see him advocating
against gun violence than continuing to espouse it.

I actually tried a baconator the other day, because there's few things as great in life as a good bacon cheeseburger.
It kinda tasted like dung. Not that I know what dung tastes like, but the bacon was not fabulous.

My wife likes the spicy baconator, with jalapenos and the spicy sauce.

If you think the Baconator rates high on the quality bacon cheeseburger scale, then I don't think I can be your friend any more.
