A political discussion discussion

Post by SMLCHNG »

For those of you who 'enjoy' the ins and outs and views of all things political, have a question for ya.

Would you like to have just three threads dedicated to anything and everything? One Democratic, one Republican, one Independent.

You could post all the thoughts you want in each thread, rather than a bunch of new threads, where the conversation keeps running along the same 'arguments'.

If you post in the Democrat thread, you can (politely) slam the Republicans, or cheer on a Democrat, and vice versa to the other threads.

All that would be asked is if you're a staunch Republican, then keep your 'nasty' posts out of the Democratic one, and again, vice versa.

Thanks for your thoughts and consideration. :)

Penny

I voted yes, but c'mon Penny, you see how many people post new threads about things already being discussed. You think this will be any different?

I am sick of the same arguments from the same three or four zealots in threads all over the board.

I don't think it will change if there is a "home" for the politics, nor do I necessarily think a separate "home" is a good idea.

This will all be over in a month or so; my vote would be to just let threads play out until then.

;) Yep.. and we're thinking just locking those, and directing the poster to the R/D/I threads.

And thanks for all feedback!! That's why I started this. [smilie=battingeyes.gif]

The political threads are clearly marked, if you don't like them, don't open them, don't read them, problem solved

 Well, yes, that IS true, Brad. But this question is more directed to those who DO open them, and want to discuss. ;)

Sigh... can't wait till it's over...

I don't comment in the political threads. I have very strong opinions. I know no one is going to change my mind. I know that I will not change the minds of others with equally strong opinions. So what is the point of all the arguing. :-?

Some of my favorite people on here have opposite opinions politically from me. I still want to be friends with them after November....so I'll just bite by tongue, keep my opinions to myself, and wait for it to be over.

The simplest solution?

I'll tell everyone what to do and then they do what I told them.

I voted no because there are too many different potential topics to compile them into one thread for each group. Although it might lower the bickering, it restricts the ability to debate. It would be nice to keep the peace, but the pre-election arguing will all be over soon enough. I'd leave it how it is.
