In late August I applied for a job with the Texas A&M System doing the parts of my job that I like. I had an interview with them the Friday after Ike hit. The interview went great. We talked more about me personally than my professional experiences. That was kind of strange. I was told due to travel with all the higher ups, they would let me know something the week of Sept. 29th.
Monday the 29th rolls around and I receive an email to call the lady I interviewed with. I was thinking it was going to be "thank you but we are going with the other candidate". Nope - just the opposite. They offered me the job!
I held off posting about it until I got the official offer letter - which came in the mail over the weekend! It is a substainal pay raise, lots of perks and I get to move back to College Station!
I start on Dec. 1. I have a half day of training then we take off for D.C. for meetings the rest of the week.
I put my townhome back on the market for sale or lease. I got a lease offer quickly. I am leasing it for a year to 2 Coast Guard guys who lost everything in Ike. I have to be out by Oct. 20th so I have been packing like a wild woman.
I'll hang with my neighbor or be at my folks between now and Dec. 1. My unversity is sad I am leaving but understand why. They are happy I am staying until the end of the semester. I am trying to make sure I have no loose ends when I leave.
I'm a little worries though, it is my first M-F, 8-5 job since 2000.
