Finally able to go see Jimmy in concert!

I finally was able to go see Jimmy in Las Vegas October 18th! Jimmy was great! I wish I could say the same for some of his fans! I had the entire row behind us dumping jello shots in our hair, down our backs, kicking us in the backs, pushing us, and at the end - a 6 foot tall man weighing well over 260 lbs punching a woman of 5 feet 3 inches and 135 lbs in the face not ONCE but TWICE! The damage to my face is severe - my tooth went through my lip. The bruising is pretty ugly. The cowards ran before security could come and help me. We were there to enjoy the music...but couldn't. Will I go back to the MGM Grand to see another concert? NO. Will I go and see Jimmy again? I hope someday I will be able to muster the courage to go again...but I can't say that right now! My children want to see Jimmy as well, but I can't encourage them to go!

First of all, welcome to buffettnews!
Sorry to hear about your experience-how unfortunate. Most parrotheads are wonderful to be with, but occasionally there is a rotten apple in the bunch, or folks more intent on getting drunk than anything else.
Buffettnews is a great place to hang out and you can meet some wonderful parrotheads here!
Hope your next concert experience is soon and entirely positive!

Wow, that sounds awful. Sorry it happened.
I agree with the above, some folks get too inebriated, act like fools, and situations escalate out of control.
Anyway, glad you found BuffettNews. There's some great folks here.

First welcome to Buffettnews!
I'm really sorry to hear about your terrible experience. I hope that the MGM will review the security tapes from the exits of the arena in order to help you identify the coward.
I have to say that I've never experienced anything remotely like that at show at the MGM and I have been to a bunch. This will be the first year that I didn't make it to any Jimmy Buffett shows at the MGM and that's due to an accident. The only time I've seen anything like this was at Fiddler's Green in Denver the year that the Neville Brothers opened. There was a pretty nasty attack on the lawn where one guy blindsided another guy and laid him out.
I hope you can make it to Jimmy's next show in either Boise or Salt Lake City, where you won't suffer such an attack. Failing that, I hope you go to any other show and experience what most of us do, which is a lot of fun with a lot of really nice strangers.

Sorry to hear what happened to you. Hell you wouldn't get treated
that bad in Philadelphia! That guy was definately not a Parrothead.
If you're ever at a concert/tailgate that I'm at stop by our tiki bar.
We"ll take care of you. Sounds like I'm bigger than that guy and I
travel with large brothers.

Welcome to you and sorry that happened....Almost all the people I meet are decent friendly people, but you do get the bad apples in each bunch.
Join us on the setlist for the next concert and you'll see what I mean.....

Oh that's terrible, so sorry that happened. It's defintely not typical of a Buffett concert so I hope you will be able to go again sometime and enjoy it the way it's meant to be.
The usual atmosphere I'm used to is that everyone around you practically becomes your "new best friend" before the night is over.
Don't let those very un-Buffetty (my new favorite word I read somewhere on BN) people ruin it for you!

Holy Cow! I hope you heal without scars...secondly...I hope they catch that SOB.
It's those kinda people (not US kinda people!) who win tickets or their boss gives them to them them pi$$ me off. I can't afford to go this year to see Jimmy ANYWHERE and some jerk acts like that and he had the chance to have PHun and doesn't!!??!! Probably doesn't even know about PHun...he only has Fun...Yeah, he's NO Parrothead!

I just found this site. GREAT!!!!!
I was at the Sat. concert and what a show it was. It was our first official concert. We were at the concert in April to "open" Margaritaville Glendale(live up the street).
I am sorry you went through with that.
Our people around us were just drunk lol. I was getting rocked back and forth(had to p lol) but it was all in good nature.
i had more of a problem on the monorail.
was staying at the imperial and met new parrothead "friends"(if you are reading this from NO, pm me, never got to say thanks) . they showed us what way to go on the "rail".
there was about 20 of us on the car till we stopped at the flamingo.
after one fighting that this wasn't the way to go, we told them yes it is. then about 40 of them got on. i was smashed against the other side. then they started to play around with the door, putting there hand in the door to make the doors reopen. then more came and we might have had 100 on that car. then another one came and was ready to put there hand in the door and i yelled,"if you do it, i will beat the crap out of you!!!!!"
it took about 8 min to get on "the road".
i started to have a panic attack. the mother of all. being crushed against the back door, the yelling and screaming they did, i coulnd't take it!!!!i made it to the next stop and i SHOVED my way past those ( insert word here).
took me about 6 trains to get to the MGM.
will i go to any concert... DAMN RIGHT!!!! i am hoping he is back in phoenix next year!!!!! if not VEGAS BABY!!!!!
GO PHILLIES!!!!!

Let me echo what others have said: Welcome, I'm sorry to hear you had a horrible experience with a couple of a-holes, and the vast majority of Parrotheads aren't like that.
I had a similar, but not as damaging experience at the Fillmore show last year, with several people who were nearly drunk enough to puke, and who somehow felt that my joining a couple of folks from our PHC infringed on *their* "space." Fortunately in my case, security was on the ball and after hearing all sides of the story (the miserable sacks o' pus lied about their words and actions), security moved them off the floor for the duration of the show.
Yes, there are *always* a few idiots mixed in with the good folks. I'm glad that you're not willing to let this get you totally down. Go hang out at the pre-show parties at Hooters and outside Margaritaville this weekend, and see what the *fun* Parrotheads are like.

I sat by a puncher as well....however, he was a nice puncher. Right as the show started, the seat in front of me was filled by heavyweight boxer Tye Fields. I recognized him right away as I've been to about 10 of his fights and he was a great neighbor to share the concert with on Saturday (he even bought me a beer!)
Too bad the OP (and the thug that hit her) weren't around us....I'm sure Tye could have taken care of this loser real good!

What's the point of going to any concert and being smashed.. I for one want to remember the good time i had, not like those that just collapse and pass out.....i get Jimmy Buffett, but i just don't get that!
Come to Paris or maybe even London next year for an even better time

Thank you everyone for your encouraging words! I am happy to say that we are going to another concert this year! August 15th to be exact, in Chicago! My youngest 2 (11 & 13) love his music, so they will be attending as well. Maybe we will get to meet some of you there!

Welcome to BN! I'm sorry you had such a bad experience in Las Vegas, but I am glad that you are going to another show this year. A lot of us BNers will be at the August 15 show. Remember, what happened to you at a JB concert is an extreme rotten exception and not the rule. I am a totally blind person who is going to Las Vegas in May to see Jimmy, and I trust that I will be safe as I was there last October. I hope your next JB experience will be very good and that you will post about it here.
