I realize that there is a "What Are You Reading" thread but this book is just so f'n good I wanted to start a thread to see if any in the Buffettnews community has read it. I was floored. Amazed. It is part "Hamlet" it is part "boy goes on adventure with his dogs" it is part "murder mystery".
A very long read (close to 600 pages in hard cover with rather lengthy descriptions of the Wisconsin country side - beautiful, fantastic writing) that normally wouldn't interest me. A boy who can hear but can't speak bonds with the dogs his family breeds on a farm in Wisconsin. Not my thing. My father told me the old cliche' "don't judge a book by its cover" so I took his advice and read it in two nights.
I think I will read it again. Anyone hear have the same experience. I don't want to post any spoilers of anything. Just wanted to see if other people read this one of a kind novel.

I just searched to see if this was in the "what are you reading" thread, and this came up. I'm about halfway through, and, like you was not enthused when someone first recommended it. I can't wait to get back to it!
