I got tickets today!

Topless is going .... I am taking my Daughter Emily who has been so involved this year - very proud of her - for 13, she is very mature!

What time is everyone going? Maybe we could do a "scaled down" tailgate..... at least to meet up and socialize for awhile!

phlocking in tampa!!

Post by Kinja13 »

definitely disappointed about no official tampa tour stop here in '08 but all the more reason to be excited about a mini-phlocking on Sunday! not really sure what to expect for a tailgate, but i think since ford ampitheater is sort of out there away from everything, that a little parrothead tailgate around the lunch time hour would work just fine.

don't care much about the politics involved although i'm probably more okay with obama than it seems some are... just excited to have jimmy in town. let me know if those of you that are planning a tailgate have a particular parking lot in mind or have some way of meeting up. getting fired up and hope to be around others that are as excited as myself.

hope to see ya there!

finz up!

This is a previous tailgate location

Post by chrisintampa »

this location has worked well before

(directions copied from mobiletikibar)

I-4 is at the top (north). You'll exit I-4 onto 301/Ft King Hwy and head south for 2 seconds (as soon as you exit I-4, be ready to enter the parking lot), you'll see winghouse on your left just before the parking lot entrance on your right.

As you enter the parking lot (entrance is in the lower right of the photo), hang a quick right and head towards the trees in the upper right of the photo. Look for the big tiki bar, we'll be setup there with the generators, small beach, tiki heads, etc. I believe it's titled LOT A based on Marnin Garita Guy's recon mission during the show tonight.

We'll be there! We're going to shoot for near the same area in the photo above, but probably a little to the left, closer to the amphitheater, if there are not a lot of folks.

One thing we're not sure of is the "doors 1:30pm" time... if that means they'll let us into the seating area at 1:30, or into the parking area at 1:30.

I know I'm new to BN and you all dont know me yet but I'll be there...I was wondering about the tailgate also, I was thinking the same thing, all the security and politics involved...
I read on another post that someone went to a political rally before that Buffett was at and there WAS tailgating. I'll try to find that post again. I'll be curious to see...

I'm not going to the Obama rally, but I did go to a political fundraising event once just because Jimmy was playing.
....and yes, we tailgated.

Well, I'll have to add to this, that if DEZ meant the KINKY fundraiser, there wasn't much security. Probably more for Jimmy than the Kinkster.

I am still so sad about Capt Tony - we will have to have a drink in his honor!!!!

Not to put a damper on fun, but just remember that you don't want to be making any kind of jokes about bombs, weapons, anything bad happening to Sen Obama, etc..... The Secret Service takes a very dim view of such things and you will end up getting hauled off and at best you'll spend several hours answering questions. At worse, you could be arrested and charged. Treat it like an airport with respect to jokes about weapons: just don't do it...
