I bought some candy today for the kiddies and I noticed the "Fun Size" candy bars are smaller than they used to be. They are more expensive and you get less candy. I guess it goes along with the times. No more 1/2 gallon ice cream, etc. Has anyone else noticed this?

Somewhat. I've noticed a lot of companies will keep the price the same but lower the quantity.

They did a report about product downsizing on the Today show. You'd be amazed at how many products are doing this. They have all kinds of sneaky ways to make you think you're getting the same amount in each box/package. But you're not.

What my Mom used to call a 10 pound can (canned goods) is now about 7 pounds.

Yes, definately.
Not only that, but some of the old classic candy bars have disappeared altogether. (Clark, 5th Avenue, Powerhouse, Zagnuts, Zero, et. al.).
Not to mention the 5-packs of Topps baseball cards with that GOD-AWFUL little piece of cardboard that the manufacurer tried to pass off as bubble gum.

trickle down economics.
The holders of ALL the chocolate and candy have trickled down the size so they can have more money.

It seems to be an epidemic and it's not limited to food products.
My 401k has shrunk ..... it's definitely no longer "fun size".
And why else would I be getting all those emails for male enhancement products?

You can find almost any candy, you just have to look for it. I found some old favorites at these websites:
http://www.hometownfavorites.com/shop/candy_store.asp
http://www.groovycandies.com
http://www.nostalgiccandy.com
yum.

Is WHAT socialism? Trying to get the kids to eat that crappy-a$$ bubble gum? NO! It's attempted murder.

Ya know, if you don't stay for the whole show you'll never find out how it ends.

I don't think that's anything new...a 2 x 4 never was actually 2" x 4"

Yeah, I know, I just threw that out for fun. I remember my Dad teaching me that when I was younger and there was a reason......like that was the measurements before the wood was planed down or something.....I don't know.....he grew up in the great northwest with a bunch of lumberjacks.

I loved that cardboard, even though the yummy flavor only lasted as long as it took for it not to be cardboard anymore. I actually remember getting baseball cards trick or treating... used them in the spokes I'm sure!

yeah, I've been sent to the lumber yard to pick up building materials.
not exactly something that I was too fond of, for that very reason.
