MOTM - Parrothead health
PLEASE do not be offended by this observation and suggestion BUT after spending a week in KW for MOTM I could not believe the average size of the parrotheads at the events. I think it would be a very good idea if some of the Parrothead clubs got together and joined Weight Watchers or Jenny Craig. Turn it into a contest against other parrothead groups to see who can lose the most weight. "Biggest Parrothead Loser Contest". Again....no offense...I say this because I care.

Interesting idea...
You’re still grinning, we’re still winning, nothing left to say

Hey...compared to science fiction fandom (which I am also a member of), Parrotheads aren't, by and by, all that huge. And there's nothing like spending five days on an island with not so much parking to get one out walking a lot.
OTOH, it's all relative, and getting to a healthy weight and keeping one's exercise up for those body parts not involved in drink lifting is probably not a bad idea.

BTW, Buster has been busted. He's really only 94.
I remember when this was first reported the news anchor got tickled and said, "Well, so much for all those health segments we show."

There is no such thing as a miracle diet! Those lose weight quick diets can be dangerous, and in the end, the weight is regained. I recently started Weight Watchers, and I like it. I don't consider Weight Watchers a diet. It just helps you to learn how to eat sensibly. It goes all to hell when I am phlocking around, but I always get back in the routine when I come home and back to reality.srkmrd wrote:I am in the 'gained 30 pounds in last 3(or 5) years club' I would love a dieting thread........any one know any great miracle diets?

Here we are, maybe it's because in spite of all the work we do
It's the child in us we really value
Here we are, with our fins up and our feathers flashing

We weren't at MOTM this year, but I agree having been at 4-5 of the events since 2008.
I have recently decided that I need to loose weight again. I was very successful loosing weight about 3 years ago (25lbs in 3 mos) by using a free website (http://www.fitday.com) to track my activities and log what I eat on a daily basis, along with working out.
It's amazing how much weight you can loose, once you realize how much crap you put in your body without thinking. Start to get that under control and log your foods in the website. It gives you a visual of the nutrition content of your meals throughout the day.
Sorry if I sound like a commercial, but it is an amazing website. It does take discipline and work though. This way of losing weight is not for everyone, but for those who are driven by results, and challenges it can be very successful.
Cheers and good luck to those who shed the lbs.
