The Official Political Negativity Thread

Post by FunkHouse9 »

There have been a couple of threads started here in the last couple of days that have sincerely had the intent of keeping a positive spirit leading immediately up to, and immediately following the election which have been hijacked with unnecessary amounts of anger and aggression. Based on suggestions from many people to the naysayers to start a thread of their own and keep their trash talking in there, I have taken it upon myself to create this trashcan thread for you to spew your hate filled rhetoric as you see fit. Have your pity party in here and stop trying to bring our hope down with your firm beliefs that things can actually get much worse. Some of you must really crap on golden toilets if you think our nation isn't in bad shape. So go ahead. Enjoy. Complain away.

No negativity here.

I'm glad the war's over, the economy is fixed and I can't wait for my $1,000,000 tax rebate.

I caught a little of Rush's show, and he's letting his cult members go on about how we're about
to become a Marxist nation, and that now they have to stand up and fight. :o
I don't know how these lunkheads ever figured out WHAT a Marxist state would look like, but the tone sounded sadly threatening.

I guess angry rednecks are gonna try to sound much more dangerous than angry liberals would... :-?

I think this quote from Carlin is poignant to this thread...

"Now, there's one thing you might have noticed I don't complain about: politicians. Everybody complains about politicians. Everybody says they s***. Well, where do people think these politicians come from? They don't fall out of the sky. They don't pass through a membrane from another reality. They come from American parents and American families, American homes, American schools, American churches, American businesses and American universities, and they are elected by American citizens. This is the best we can do folks. This is what we have to offer. It's what our system produces: Garbage in, garbage out. If you have selfish, ignorant citizens, you're going to get selfish, ignorant leaders. Term limits ain't going to do any good; you're just going to end up with a brand new bunch of selfish, ignorant Americans. So, maybe, maybe, maybe, it's not the politicians who s***. Maybe something else sucks around here... like, the public. Yeah, the public sucks. There's a nice campaign slogan for somebody: 'The Public Sucks. F*ck Hope.'"

I really miss him :(

I started out coming here because I loved Jimmy Buffett and all conversations related. I'll talk about sports, food, beer, music, even politics.

I got to tell you though, I am starting to get sick of the negative vibes. It's not fun, it's not why I come here.

I have way too much other stuff be happy about in life, then to hate on the new president, be mad at Jimmy or Springsteen or anyone else who supported the new president.

Life is way to freaking short to be this angry.

That's just my two cents

[understatement] I have never been a huge fan of President Bush. [/understatement] And I have been known to badmouth him. Just give me a little more time to get to know Obama. That's all I ask. Save this space. Then I'll get back to badmouthing the President.

I think that's very reasonable, and I'll follow that model if I feel likewise :)

I wish you all would keep this friendly banter out of my negativity thread. This chatter in good spirits is needed to renew the vibe elsewhere. The theme of this thread is supposed to be:

If you don't have something nice to say, say it here."

You're hijacking it with your happiness. Now get on outta here. Scram varmants. Off my lawn! Humbug! Go hug a tree you hippies! Damn liberals or conservatives or independents or whatever you are. Vent your anger! Say something hateful in here, like Obama hates kittens or Bush probably gives out candy corn and raisins on Halloween. I hear Cheney doesn't wash his hands after using the bathroom!
