Did anyone out there see the last Bond Movie, Casino Royale? Is it worth my time? The new one comes out next week. I do not know if I need to get caught up or not

Casino Royale was pretty good, but probably much darker than the Bond flicks you're used to. That said, the foot-chase at the start of the movie alone is worth the price of admission. :o

the first "new" Bond is always a tough go..

the ending (for me) was a little darker than old times..

Definitely see it. I've always preferred the Connery version, but this Bond is much more interesting as a character. And don't forget the smokin' hot Bond girls. 8) :pirate:

Definitely more serious than the campy Roger Moore version.

As a side note, Daniel Craig (Bond) has said with the election of Obama, he thinks now is the time for a black Bond. Trying to put himself out of business?

They should have retired the character after I, I mean Sean Connery, got too old to play him.

If Sean Connery isn't in it, it's not a James Bond movie.

The other guys-Pierce Bronsan & Roger Moore- are great actors and made some very good "Bond" movies, but Sean Connery IS James Bond.

I personally think that Daniel Craig is THE BEST BOND.

I also think that CASINO ROYALE is the best Bond movie.

Definitely in the minority here it seems, but CASINO ROYALE is my favorite.

Some of the most beautiful women ever in the Bond series, great action and great cinematography.

To me, CASINO ROYALE sets the new standard for Bond.

Have heard that the new one picks up a little furthur down the road after CASINO ROYALE.

My buddy in Hollyweird has seen it already and said the new one boasts some of the best action sequences ever for the 007 Series.

Anyways. My 2 cents.

Well, I am definitely going to check it out.

If I had to rank my favorite Bond films....
1) Goldfinger
2) Thunderball
3) Live and Let Die
4) You Only Live Twice
5) For Your Eyes Only

You're not alone. Back in the 70s I read every single one of Ian Fleming's original Bond novels, and Casino Royale nailed it ...... seemed to me to be just about the way Fleming wrote the character. Daniel Craig's take on Bond and the reinvention of the character back to when he first got his "double-O" license is exactly what the franchise needed.

Sean Connery's Bond was perfect for the 60's/early 70's. Yes, he is the "definitive Bond", but it's not that simple. It's apples and oranges trying to compare the characters over 4 decades .... about like trying to compare the 60s to the 80s.

Roger Moore's Bond was ridiculously campy but fit the 70's early 80s "Star Wars/Disco" era I suppose. Pierce Brosnan was okay. Personally I really liked Timothy Dalton in the role.

I did not mind Tim Dalton, his character was a little dark. Pierce I liked. Although I have a couple of Roger Moore movies on my list, I thought Pierce was the second best Bond.

I'd agree, after Connery, Pierce Brosnan was the second best Bond. We knew he'd be a great Bond even back when he was playing Remington Steele.

Tim Dalton, though... mistake.

Tim Dalton was just a filler, I think even he knew that.

Pierce had a certain coolness to him that was last seen in Connery.

Useless Bond fact:

Christopher Lee, who played Scaramanga in "The Man With the Golden Gun", was Ian Fleming's cousin. He was one of Flemings original suggestions to play Bond in "Dr. No".

Wasn't Scaramanga, the Bond villian who had the third nipple?

As Q put it: "a superfluous papilla".

I can't remember to pick up bread and milk, but I have room in there for stuff like this. :D
