Hubby and I swore when we move we aren't living within 3 houses of a cottonwood tree. 95% of the leaves weren't even ours.

We raked 35 bags of leaves today. Thirty freakin' five.

Two giant red maples and a huge honey locust.......
I feel your pain. I've been hoping for a big windstorm to blow them down the street....but it's supposed to snow tomorrow, so had to get them picked up today. Even mulching them, it filled up both garbage cans....

Funny story...our next door neighbor is a bi*&^. She complains about "OUR" leaves every year. The year Hubby was in school, we were late getting them up because we have 3.4 acres and I can't and won't do it alone. So, We are moving to a smaller place until June when I can move back to Jacksonville...and we haven't touched a leaf...and we aren't going to! She can pay her lawn man to mulch her yard and then the leaves here will mess it all up...serves her right for being SO mean to us...snotty woman...Okay, feel much better!

It's the groundskeeping department's job here
There are 5 maple trees lining my front yard at home. The non-stop raking from October through the end of November is one of the few things I don't miss about being home.

Sometimes more than others,
we see who and what and where we are,
I'm just a one man band,
With my feet in the sand,
Tonight I just need my guitar

It's bad enough I spend four friggin' hours just MOWING and trimming the lawn, I'll be damned if I'm going to spend ANY time raking leaves.
(No pun intended, but) I leave them where they fall. If the lawn mower doesn't get them, que sara sara.
And I don't ever expect to get the yard of the month award.

Since the majority are not your leaves. You can just blow them back where they came from. ( If you have an enterprising keet, or are up to it, blow the leaves out of your yard and then charge the rest of the neighborhood to blow the leaves out of their yards. )freaky4tiki wrote:leaf blower
get the back pack kind and some protective earwear and a coupla cold beers.
AND as an extra bonus.... Mr Freaky sleeps like a baby
Or else you can simply keep raking all of the leaves up and have one big grand barn fire and yard party. Perhaps have everyone bring a dish and BYOB. They can sit and enjoy a mountain of leaves turn into a mountain of ash.

We just had a couple of days of rain and wind. You can't tell we actually have grass on our lawn as it's a carpet of oak and maple leaves. We have 7 oak and another dozen maples on our acre lot. I mowed and mulched on Wednesday but will be doing it again this week after the leaves have had some time to dry. I hate this time of year and will keep saying it til spring
