Jim's going to JU!!!
Okay...I know all my posts are about my keets but my whole LIFE is about my keets...read on...
Jim is 18 and the best, most wonderful son any mom could have. (spoken like a true mom?) He has a 3.8?? GPA now and it's been as high as 3.972 and as low as 3.723. Not a bad thing. He applied to JU (jacksonville University) as his first choice. Then he also applied to Flagler (in St. Augustine) and to UF in Gainesville. He hasn't heard back from the latter two but Wednesday afternoon he got a welcoming letter (email) from JU. HE'S BEEN ACCEPTED THERE!! HIS FIRST CHOICE!!! We are stoked. He is thrilled.
This solitifies us moving back to Jacksonville in June. It concretes Mollie NOT having to have another year in Paris schools. Although they are great, she wants to move home and isn't happy here either. I can transfer with my job with no trouble. James has applied at a few agencies and will do more this coming week. My mom...she goes where I go. We are so excited and proud of him.
This was 2 days before the football team lost the semi final game last night. He is so bummed about that but he just said "We did well. I'm proud of myself and my team. That part of my life is over. This part I can look forward to"...he makes so much sense.

I know he's not planning to play football in college, but I still think he should
at least consider it. The first few weeks at a new school can be pretty lonely,
and having a built-in group of buddies can't hurt. I'm not a big fan of the
"Greek system" (even though our baby-son is a Fiji and all that was fine).
Being part of the team would help provide some "fraternity" outside of that.
And his coach would be KERWIN BELL!
I know JU has changed a ton since the late 60s-early 70s when I was there,
and quite a bit since the time Jon was there "at the turn of the millennium",
but I still like the idea that it's a teaching institution, not a big research mill or
a big party&football&Greek&etc place. Jim will enjoy continuing his education
there, I'm sure. He's a levelheaded young man and will probably end up
being a campus leader just like Jon did.
And there are so many great programs there... education, nursing, aeronautics,
marine science, business and the second-largest NROTC program in the nation.

And any school that calls it's regular campus tours
"Flip Flop Fridays" has to be the right place to GO!
Here's a goal for you... graduating under the same oak trees that I did!

He's either gonna live at home or with his Aunt Angie.
He wants to major in early childhood development or some science, probably biology.
Prime is to be a science teacher AND a football coach at a middle/Jr. High school.
He doesn't know it but I am ordering a JU ball cap and t-shirt for Christmas. Lucky boy, I just got him sirius radio for his Durango. Now, Mom can drive his truck and have Radio Margaritaville!
He actually home with a tummy ache and he's nauseous. Poor baby. But he just asked me what was for sinner. He MUST be better!
