IMO, the only intolerant person in this thread is the parent who made the complaint. Whether her family celebrates Kwanzaa, Christmas, Winter Soltice, Chanukah or whatever, she should understand that there are 200 million people in this country and many have different beliefs and have some patience and compassion during the Holiday season.
If the worst thing her child has to endure this season is sing "Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer", then she should feel blessed her family isn't losing their home or jobs like many other families, having parents, husbands, wifes or children serving in the Middle East and away from the family, and be thankful they live a charmed life in a country where they can file frivilous lawsuits such as she has done.
When I offer good cheer, it's normally in the form of Merry Christmas unless I know the person and their beliefs. However, if I did offer a Merry Christmas and got a Happy Chanukah in return, it wouldn't bother me at all.

Whether you are Christian or not, tis the season to be Jolly......why not try it. :D
