Did I wake up in bizarro world this morning???
I think I'll take my shoes off and go walking
Down beside the Caribbean Sea. . .

Palm Trees and views I can't believe
Why would I ever want to leave?

I hope he has some new original song material, maybe something inspired by his recent surfing trip.

I'd just love to have a good at least 15 new songs that refresh me and make me feel I am in a different reality for awhile. The way things are in the country at this point some new happy island music to drink some rum or cuervo with as I pretend I am on a beach somewhere would really hit the spot. Well, first i wish he would produce and release his 3 E. Hampton acoustic concerts and his mother's birthday concert...by far my favoites of his work. Then how about releasing the Filmore and the Paris concerts?

Individual songs? how about Yankee Lady by Jesse Winchester...also When Trouble Comes Around by Mac McAnally, tho its hard to imagine anyone improving on Mac's recording of it

I'd love to see Mr Buffett do another album with other prominent singers....one song for such an album might be Gulf Coast Highway with maybe Martina McBride or Carrie Underwood; two others might be Railroad Lady and/or LA Freeway with Jerry Jeff Walker

In fact, one could easily develop setlists for several such albums...

I agree.

He doesn't have as much time to write songs I guess because he's managing his empire.

I remember talking to Irving Burgie (Lord Burgess) who wrote Day-O, Jamaica Farewell, Island in the Sun, etc. He said he lost the desire to write songs religiously when he made lots of cash.

He felt like motivating factors, i.e.-cash, is what made him do it. If you look through JB's discography, with the exception of one album there is a steady decline in the AMOUNT/QUANTITY of his songwriting, but most importantly those he does write he seldomly writes solo.

However, I think some of his songs have greater depth.

In the beginning he was pretty much a singer-songwriter type artist.

Well let's see....

On the Road Again - No. No need for Jimmy to do this. It's pointless. Besides, Silver Wings was bad enough.

We're Still Here - Isn't this...so confusing...an extra album track? Or was it a tour name? Whatever.

Margaritaville- lost verse - Actually, the 'lost' verse was edited off the original track. So there's no need to do it AGAIN. And it's on two live albums as it is. So... No.

Brown Eyed Girl- With Ralph MacDonald Percussion - Well who does percussion on the album version? On the live versions? Do we REALLY need to have another version of BEG? No.

Changes In Latitudes, Changes In Attitudes- Acoustic and Hawaii - Well, that's two places. I guess it could be edited into one. But then...oh that's right, it's already on its own album plus a few live albums. Another no.

Fruitcakes- New Lyrics - New lyrics? What, and make it even longer? Nooooooooo.

Glory Days- with a drum sole - I think Roger Guth's shoes work just fine. His drums work just fine as well.

Home Again - ?

Far Side Of The World- Jimmy play his 12 string guitar - That almost sounds like that 'went to the levee' song... 12 strings are horrible. What's wrong with the original? Nothing.

Rainy Day Women #12 and 35 - I actually prefer #9 and 65. Super sized at that.

Tiki Bar is Open- Jimmy play guitar - Man oh man. It's ZIGGY, not Jimmy.
