We want Holladay :) Fingers crossed that we get him.

Shane Victorino in lead for votes to make it to the All Star Game, but it's a tight race.

This may be the trade that pries Clay Buchholtz away from the Red Sox, along with Bowden, Delcarmen and a top minor league position player. Imagine Beckett, Halladay and Lester as your first 3 starters in a playoff series... :D 8)
I wouldn't trade Bucholtz straight up for Halliday, let alone adding in the others also... sorry, but that's way too much talent heading out of Boston for 10 wins a year( if Halliday is a 20 game winner vs Smoltz/DiceK/Penny, or whoever, who would average 10 wins).
Bucholtz is the future...and we're gonna need him when Dice K, Penny, Smoltz and/or Beckett are gone.....just my opinion
The difference is Halladay is a PROVEN big league pitcher. Since 2002 he has a .707 winning % and a 3.16 ERA pitching in the AL East! Buchholtz has yet to show he can pitch consistently in the majors. Adding 10 wins a year to ANY spot in the rotation is HUGE.
I hear ya, but Theo won't do it....if the Yanks start bidding they may get interested, just to drive the price up like they did with Johan Santana....but in the end, I see him staying in Toronto.

The only way the Jays get better in the near future is to see Halladay in another uniform. If he does go I hope it's in the NL, and that will only make him a better pitcher cuz he will only be pitching to 7 batters not 9 like in the AL.

I am thinking that will be the last season for the Unit. He got his 300th win. He can't have much left in his tank

The only way the Yankees would ever have a chance is if they never played the Red Sox or Angels again.

The Red Sox own them this year.
The Angels have owned them for the past SEVERAL years.

BUT, on a happier note, the CEDAR RAPIDS KERNELS keep rolling along. 8)

OH GAWD yourself.

BTW,
There's quite an all-star game going on right now.
PRESBO (President Barack Obama  ) threw out the first pitch.
It wasn't a strike, but it was reached the plate. (Hopefully some of the Cubs pitchers took notice).

jonesbeach10 wrote:Funny reading the Sox fans debating whether or not to go after Doc Halladay. It reminds me of the debate whether or not the Yankees should have traded Melky Cabrera and Phil Hughes for Johan Santana a couple of years ago. I would think that the Jays would have a higher asking price for the Yankees or Sox considering they're in the division. I don't know Halladay's contract situation, but I'm guessing he would want an extension if he's traded, like Santana wanted.

I think he ends up with the Phillies, if he goes anywhere. But it sure would be nice to have a rotation of CC, Halladay, Burnett, Pettitte, and Joba/Wang.

I read an article that said that the Dodgers might offer up (a bunch of players I don't know) and our hottest Great Lakes Loon (Dee Gordon) for Halladay. :o

Midland is very much in Love with Dee and would be devastated if he was traded. We expect him to move up on us anyway....but that's different...

No.
And the game is in the 8th inning with the A.L. ahead 4-3, so, unless the game goes into extra innings, he's not likely to. Same with Mariano Riviera and Tim Wakefield.

I missed the beginning of the game, but I think they skipped Verlander too.

They did.
And I spoke too soon.
It's the bottom of the 9th and Riviera is going to try to save it for the A.L.
He's going to have his work cut out for him.

Yeah, the Yankees and Angels (Cedar Rapids Kernels) fan in me is happy. (Sorry, Brad).

The Cub fan in me, not so much.

Carl Crawford of the T.B. Rays wins the M.V.P. thanks to a game saving catch he made in deep center field.
Shortest all star game in 21 years. Just 2 hours & 31 minutes.
I'm sure the networks will get their bowels in an uproar over that.

I've been to four.
None have been against the Great Lakes Loons, however.
