Well, great pitching will beat great hitting every time. There was some NASTY pitching going on last night.Wino you know wrote:Yeah, the Yankees and Angels (Cedar Rapids Kernels) fan in me is happy. (Sorry, Brad).

Carl Crawford of the T.B. Rays wins the M.V.P. thanks to a game saving catch he made in deep center field.
Shortest all star game in 21 years. Just 2 hours & 31 minutes.
I'm sure the networks will get their bowels in an uproar over that.![]()

Nice to see ONLY 2 walks the entire game (and 1 was an intentional), AL pitchers 72 strikes in 108 pitches & NL pitchers 79 strikes in 118 pitches. Tiger pitcher Edwin Jackson, 4 pitches, 4 strikes thrown, 3 outs!Wino you know wrote:Yeah, the Yankees and Angels (Cedar Rapids Kernels) fan in me is happy. (Sorry, Brad).

The Phils 5 games up on the division, took out the Marlins 2 games so far. Pedro being added, god only knows what that will bring. Bats are getting hot, but we need Holladay, fingers crossed.

Padres are the worst team in baseball now....
tomorrow we're throwing a Double A promising prospect, Matt Latos
it'll be a perfect day downtown at Bark Park... I'll probably still go just for baseball in the sunshine
C'mon, Chargers season!!!

Anyone surprised that the Red Sox cut ties with Lugo? The only thing that surprised me is it took this long.

If you want an experience, go to a Jimmy Buffett concert.
Experience is something you don't get until just after you need it.

Re: 2009 Baseball Season
Congrats to Todd Helton on his 500th Double.
http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd ... p&c_id=mlb
DENVER -- It was darn near a home run. It was almost a triple. But for Todd Helton, it was ultimately fitting. He knocked his 500th career double off the top of the right-field fence at Coors Field during the third inning of Wednesday afternoon's game against the D-backs.
Helton became the 50th player in history to reach the mark by driving on 0-1 changeup to right with Seth Smith on base. Smith collided with D-backs shortstop Stephen Drew after rounding second and was awarded home plate on an interference call. Helton made a hard turn around second, but decided to stay. He was given an RBI.
After the play, which reduced the Rockies' deficit to 3-2, Helton received the base as a gift, and accepted a long ovation from the crowd. Arizona starter Garland, who has given up two of the 500 doubles, also stopped to applaud Helton.

How cool for you! Our most excitement lately at the ball park was last Saturday when a helicopter was supposed to drop $2,000 in one dollar bills onto the field after the game. Because of technical difficulties, the helicopter cancelled so Lou E Loon spread dollar bills on the field with a leaf blower
Oh and the Loons beat Garry's Kernels that night. In fact we took two of three games from them this visit. (this is amazing....they are a good team and last year we were the league's worst) We actually have a good chance to make the playoffs this year
