Good Places To Stay In Vegas?
Hi All!
I've only been to Vegas once, and didn't get a choice in Hotel, even though the hotel I stayed in was awesome, it's too far from the strip. I'm thinking about going back in April for my Boyfriends 21st Birthday, but I don't really know what hotels are actually nice, and affordable.....let me know whats good y'all!!
Thankys!

Re: Good Places To Stay In Vegas?
Good time to visit Vegas, lots of the hotels have lowered their prices to bring in more business.
Some good places I've stayed
Mirage (IMO the BEST Pool in Vegas)
Treasure Island, TI (Connected to Mirage via Tram..)
Paris (Next to Bally's)
NY NY (Good location if you like that part of the Strip)
Hooter's (If you really don't want to stay ON the strip)
If price is "no object" try the following:
Caesars Palace
Bellagio
Venetian
Wynn (Never stayed there but would like to)
Avoid at ALL Costs:
Tropicana (too far from the rest of the "action")
Circus Circus (unless you like kids who'll be all OVER the casino)
Riveria (getting a little "run down")
Harrahs (no "in room" safe... need to use "lockbox")
Hope this helps.....

I highly recommend Mandalay Bay. We have stayed there the past 2 years for the Buffett shows and the pool area is beautiful. They have a killer wave pool that you can actually body-surf the waves. They had a sand beach and a lazy river pool. They have some great restaurants there too.

Re: Good Places To Stay In Vegas?
I have to ask....aren't the Trop and NYNY still catty-cornered from one another? Or are you just stating that you, do not personally, care for that part of the strip?Glorfindel7 wrote:Some good places I've stayed

Sorry, had to, moral imperative.
OK, to add to the confusion, what about the Luxor? I happen to like that end of the strip, so would vote for the Luxor, NYNY and Mandalay.
MGM is ok, though I found the lack of a bathroom fan....or solid door, to be a bit strange....at least in one of the rooms I've had there.
To add to the stay away from list:
Excalibur (it's been time for an update...or just a thorough washing...for some time now)
Frisco Feeding Frenzies I-V (+16 other shows)

can say that NYNY is good, and right across the street and only (what seems like) a mile from the southern end of the Monorail.

I have always had a nice stay in Bally's.

+1 on the Mirage (although I hardly used the room at all; only slept about 4 hrs out of 36)

Re: Good Places To Stay In Vegas?
FYI- from what I understand there will be limited pool activitiy in April- many of the hotels have their pool 'season' start around Memorial Day. For us in NY, I would love to sit by a pool when it is 70 degrees out, but out there apparently that isn't warm enough

Contact alaura1974 on here... she is an agent...I was too. All I can say is... WATCH the Hotel WEBSITES!!!MalloryE wrote:Ok, so i'm going to look at Mandalay Bay, Venetian, Wynn, and the Luxor....

I can get a full week at MGM $79 each night.....several different weeks at Flamingo ( Always my #1 choice, heart of the strip) at $39 each night.
I disagree about Harrah's to avoid....STAY AWAY from Imperial Palace.
Make wise choices at hotels, stay center of the strip, easy access to everything... the money you save use for dinners or a show (HIGHLY suggest Beattles Love)....
Hopefully when you check in to the hotel it is LATER in the day, past dinner, if your plane is a later flight - lean in and ask if it is possible for an upgrade.
Flipflopgirl and I shared a room at VFW show I got in the night prior at 11pm, was upgrade to VIP floor in a newer room. Granted a bit further from the elevator, but REALLY nice room!
There is another thread that is started I think Vegas 2009? Look at the most recent posts, I put a link there.
ALSO..... vegasfruit_cakes - Mitch is a chauffer out there, contact them...help a fellow PH out and see if you can use his service. I will double check the BN names!

Re: Good Places To Stay In Vegas?
All of those are good recomendations, but another one is the Tuscany. It's 2 blocks east of Bally's on Flamingo. You can usually get a great price on a room. They are very spacious suites too. Also, the place doesn't reek of cigarette smoke which is always a bonus! Another option is renting a timeshare for the weekend at Grand Desert Resort. It's kiddie corner from the Hard Rock. I'm usually able to get a fancy room with full kitchen for like $300 for the weekend. Another plus is that the pool and hot tub are open 24 hrs which is always good for birthdays. If you're interested, I can email you the lady I usually rent it from.

Re: Good Places To Stay In Vegas?
When we saw JB in October, we stayed at the Palazzo. We had a suite on the Concierge level (floors 23-24-25-26) for about $300 per night. Included in the price was a $25 gaming credit, $75 per day credit at the Canyon Ranch Spa, a Limo waiting for us at the airport (and took us back too)(value = $40 each way), and free reign in the Concierge Lounge, including Breakfast (6 a.m. to 11 a.m.), an "Afternoon presentation" (12 p.m. to 4 p.m.), Evening hot and cold Hors d’oeuvres (5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.), and an open bar until 9 p.m.!!! (value = priceless!
) You get to bypass the riff-raff in the lobby and check-in directly with the Concierge on the 23rd floor.

I'm not sure what kind of specials they have going right now... I suggest you call them, ask to speak to someone on the Concierge Level, and see what kind of deal you can wrangle.

Mandalay Bay is Great...I've stayed there 3 times and it was always perfect. Just got an e-mail from them for rooms from $79 per night if you use the code: PGUEST-P2
I got the e-mail today (1/9) so it's current.
MGM Grand...I've stayed there quite a bit too usually because I've gotten a great deal. I keep getting e-mails from them promoting rooms as low as $69 a night.

Re: Good Places To Stay In Vegas?
Have been to VEGAS 20+ times.
THE WYNN is easily the CLEANEST and NICEST place I've stayed at there.
IMPERIAL PALACE and CIRCUS CIRCUS are the worst places I've stayed at there.
MGM, depending on where they put you, can be a pain in the a$$!!!!!!! One time, i had to walk for an eternity to find my room (largest hotel in America, I think!?).
HARD ROCK, off the strip, was a fun stay once upon a time.
The DOUBLE DEUCE (I assume it still runs on the strip) offers a 5 buck, 24-hour pass that allows you access to ride the bus up and down the strip (AND to Downtown Vegas as well).
Serves as a great tour as well (take it from the Strip to Downtown and count all of the Elvis Wedding Chapels, etc.). Walk to the top of the bus and you can sit front and center on top for the best views!).
Vegas.........................a trippy place with my own fair share of stories already!
HAVE FUN!!!!!!!!!!!!
p.s. there are four locations on the strip that has a place called HALF-PRICE DISCOUNTS or DISCOUNTED DAY TICKETS (something like that). For select shows that day, whatever isn't sold out, some shows offer substantial discounts to fill the seats. THAT is how I got to see WAYNE NEWTON (!) ten feet from the stage for 27 bucks (instead of something insane like 89 bucks). I would never have thought of it, but I went that day and the guy working there said, "Get these tickets if you want to see THE TRUE CHEESE OF VEGAS!" I was so happy I did. It was corny as hell and we had a blast!

Re: Good Places To Stay In Vegas?
At your age, I'd recommend the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino. Off the strip, but THE place to be. Rehab on Sundays is a blast.
I liked the Luxor because of the ease of access to Mandalay Bay and Excalibur. If you do Luxor, request the adjacent tower and not the pyramid. The Pyramid rooms are smaller due to the angle.

Re: Good Places To Stay In Vegas?
Personally, I love the MGM and the Mandalay Bay, especially the Hotel at Mandalay Bay. The Four Seasons is also very nice but it is pricey and given your age, probably not your speed. I would avoid the Tropicana, Hooters, Excalibur, the Stratosphere, the Imperial Palace, Circus Circus, the Rivera, Ballys, Harrahs and the Flamingo. I would suggest that you would be happiest at either the Palms (yes, it's a couple blocks off the Strip but it is a fun place) or the Hard Rock (same sort of comment as the Palms). If you want deals, look at NYNY, Luxor (getting a bit threadbare), the Monte Carlo, the Planet Hollywood, Mirage, Treasure Island. Caesar's, Bellagio and Wynn tend to be pricey but if you find a deal on them, grab it, you won't regret it.
This is based on spending a lot of time in Las Vegas for business and a little for pleasure.
