How about he just plays the SYKBH album for the first set and gets them outta the way, then does older, more obscure stuff after the intermission. That way those that hate the yellow album and love to start threads about those songs can tailgate another hour and come in just for the second set

How 'bout he shouts "HELLO SEATTLE!" and then breaks into "Rag Top Day" . . . . . .

I know the voices in my head aren't real, but sometimes they have really good ideas....

bitters in my beer? nah.....I've done lime, and even salt, but never bitters....and there's no way I'm adding anything to my Appleton Estate Rhum that I'm "sipping' while I watch college hockey :D

Just like "Floridays" maybe JB can record a new version of "Math Suks" to open the 2009 tour........ :o

Seriously Jimmy, you shouldn't have recorded it the first time....... [smilie=grrrrrr.gif]

Seems a lot of you are content with the same ol' songs being used for openers. Don't you yearn for anything different?

Think in terms of songs he's never opened with.

He needs to revamp his opening set. It's been THE SAME for eons.

I'd think having Great Heart on the only set of live albums from a tour is enough - it certainly is for me. That and it's not even that good, er, his singing at least. That and Hot Hot Hot - he's been doing the same thing for quite some time now.

Best opener he's ever had was Havana Daydreamin' for the Somewhere Over China tour. He opened with SOASOAS for the SOAS tour as well as the following tour, which was the YHTBT/Volcano tour. It was basically the exact same show only with a couple of new songs in it - same cocaine lines etc...

i agree. i have always thought that barometer soup should be an opening song for at least 1 tour. the song has only been played about 10 times over 14 years.the whole line "come in follow in my wake..." is a perfect way to start of a show.lage would be another great one,its been 10 years since he opened with or even played it. kinja is another one!!!

Stupidity strikes again. Just read the first post and the author. UGH.

Lage Nom Ai was an opener. Pick something NEW.

BE INVENTIVE. NEW. NOUVELLE. DIFFERENT.

How hard is it?

You want the same as something before? Go find a bootleg and drink a few beers - it'll be just like you were there man.

As long as it's an upbeat song, it's cool. I love the ballads and the slower songs but if he starts the show with them he loses the momentum that's been building all day and sometimes it takes half the first set to get it back...

And for the same reason, I don't think an obsure song works... he'll lose too much of the audience....
